A little surprized they call that intermediate. I could get through the one lesson I sampled, and I wouldn't call myself intermediate in the least. High beginner really I am. |

If that is intermediate, I must be advanced then.
And I am not advanced. |

Well, it's still a good link. Has MP3 files to put on your MP3 player so you can study while on the subway or going for a walk. |

If you think this is a beginner's course, I'd say you're advanced. |

Yep, lower than I too would have called intermediate.
Or maybe I am little better than I thought?
Seriously, looks quite useful, and I plan to plod through it all. |

If you use an Ipod, here's a way to read along with the dialogue:
1. Click on the "text only" link on the side menu of a lesson.
2.Then copy and paste all the text into a .txt file. (You can use Window's notebook to make a .txt file).
3. Paste the following into the beginning of the file:
<?xml encoding="Mac-Korean"?>
<A HREF="song=whatever you named the lesson's mp3 file">Lesson Name</A>
4. Save the file with whatever name you want and put it into the notes folder of your Ipod. To do this, you have to have turned the "use Ipod as a hard drive" feature via Itunes. Look at your instruction manual to figure that out. You access the notes folder by opening up the Ipod in the file explorer just like its a removable hard drive.
5. Then look under the Extras Menu in your Ipod and find Notes. Open the file you made, click the center button to get the audio started then click the Menu button to go back and look at the text.
see, just 5 simple, time-consuming, tedious steps! wasn't it worth it? no? oh, go to hell. |

Well, it's too hard for me from what I can tell, but maybe I'll give it a try some time. Thanks for the link, though -- it looks like it may be helpful in the not-too-distant future. |

Hey, that's pretty cool, billybrobby-
I'll try putting it on my ipod tonight. Could Sogang's online course be put on an ipod in the same way?
On the topic of ipods, I noticed that they sell some kind of adapter specially made for ipods. Do I need this thing (over $30) or will any old adapter plug work when I get to Korea?
Lastly, I want to be able to put new music on my ipod while in Korea (from CDs or downloaded, but won't be bringing a computer with me). Is this easy to do from public computer labs (on campus or in PC bangs)?
Sorry, I know this isn't an ipod thread and you may not be the ipod expert, but it didn't seem important enough to start a whole new thread about....

I'll be damned. As near as I can tell, that's ripped word for word from a book called Intermediate College Korean, that I bought a couple of years ago. Not too bad, but it didn't have enough practical exercises.
It's always good to see more Korean learning materials available for free online, and adding sound for the dialogues is a nice touch.
I wonder why they've suddenly decided to make it available for free, though. |

Because no one would pay for it? |

I think it's high beginner. It uses a lot of simple and common vocabulary, and not so much grammar. |
