It looks like the demonstrations are receiving the coverage they deserve in the U.S over this Memorial Day weekend. BBC is also showing very vivid video on how the demonstrations went down.

If you mean off the wire coverage by a less than respected media conglomerate, well then yes you'll be right. |

Hey, they report. You decide.
Some people in the U.S. even watch BBC. Really, they do. Shocked? |

Anti-U.S. rally leaves 12 seriously injured
SEOUL, May 29 (Yonhap) -- Thousands of student activists took part in protests in Seoul on Sunday, calling for the withdrawal of United States troops here and the renunciation of the U.S.' hostile policy toward North Korea.
City center traffic was halted for hours as demonstrators marched through the streets.
Demonstrators tried to physically surround the U.S. military headquarters in Yongsan before attempting to enter the compound.
Scuffles with riot police left more than 20 protesters arrested, with 12 being seriously injured and taken to a nearby hospital.
A reporter covering the demonstration for a local newspaper was also sent to hospital after being hit by a stone hurled by a protester.
Demonstrators also gathered near the U.S. embassy in Gwanghwamun in downtown Seoul and criticized the U.S. ambassador to South Korea for refusing their demands for public discussion.
Sunday's rally was the largest-scale anti-U.S. protest of late.
Such demonstrations, routine in the 1980s and 1990s when they were often put down by riot police and tear gas, had been largely replaced by more peaceful candlelight vigils in recent years. |
Did anybody see any of this? |

The only videos I happened to catch (up to this point) were on BBC. |

I was there yesterday and saw it all...got there an hour after the tear gas was dropped and my eyes still burned a bit. It was ridiculous. Saw Koreans walking past me with ripped shirts and blood all over their face as they were escorted by the police. I got there at around 5pm, so missed most of it. I was just trying to get on base for some creatine and some taco bell. Americans should just pull out altogether and stop helping these people. Not to spark a debate, but these students need to study some Korean history. |

Ha! Why bother, when their own gov't tries to cover up and muzzle the North Koreans who defect here and have loads to say about how crazy it is up North.
The SK gov't, the chaebols, and those with power/influence are only interested in the $$$ potential once they are able to pounce on an open NK market. As I've stated before, I'd be willing ot be that the bigwigs have already carved up NK and decided who will get what, etc. And that is why they grease KJI and the NK people with money, TVs, etc. They want to have a foot in the door at the proper time.
I totally believe that a war will just happen again down the road once these two join. There was enough North/South distrust and hatred before the war -- it's worse now. The NK people were upset because people from the Southern part of the country were in control. They felt exploited, and this is what the commies grabbed onto to anger them enough to start the war. Fifty years later, the SK bigwigs are thinking the exact same thing that they always were.
Too many Koreans assume that the two Koreas will magially reunite and become one powerful bliss-filled heaven. They act like NK is "theirs" for the taking or something. Talk about a wrong attitude for a reconciliation!
Damn straight the US should leave here. Definately. Let this nation experience its own growing pains.

Korean protests have become so watered down in impact, that it's just become a national pastime. Like log-throwing is to Scottish Highlanders. |

I agree. And have been saying so since 1992.
Yeah, Captain, some of us had front-row seats to the festivities. Well, make that upper balcony, stage right. Why? |

I was very disappointed by the last Star Wars movie Revenge of the Sith.
The reasons for Anakin becoming Darth Vader were ridiculous. |
