so, i'm off home to my mate's wedding in august. can't wait, known him since we were 8 years old, and can't believe anyone as lovely as his fiancee wants to marry him! but hey, no accounting for taste... Laughing
everyone has to suggest three songs for the reception. i'm trying to narrow down my choices, and so far i have

toxic - britters
in the navy - village people
ymca - village people
i'll do anything for love (but i won't do that) - meat loaf
love will tear us apart - joy division
ace of spades - lemmy and motorhead
man i feel like a woman - shania twain
kumma matana - that lion king song
life is rollercoaster - ronan keating
tragedy - steps / bee gees

what are your top three wedding songs?

Take it from an ex-wedding DJ of fours years. Man and boy. Hardest game in the world that is......

Anything by Abba....(especially Gimme gimme gimme, Waterloo, and of course DQ.

I'm in the mood (for dancing) The Nolans. Floor-filler. Guaranteed.

Twist and shout....then, La Bamba, then, Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot. I used to call those three together "The Lifeboat". They will save any DJ's ass.

A fifties section is important. Especially, L' amore, Saturday Night at the Movies, New York, New York (really hard to follow though because everyone will sit down after New York...)

The Lion Sleeps Tonight Tight Fit

Dance Yourself Dizzy......Liquid Gold

You'll need an occasional rocker and bangin' house number to stop those who think they're cool from whining about the cheese.

And, of course, Horny, Horny, Horny for those dirty aunties and uncles who like to gyrate their 20 stones and rub up each other on the dancefloor......ah, the joys of wedding disco's.....

Some of my favourites and most personally significant Wink

"I Will" - The Beatles
"Two Princes" - Spin Doctors
"Two Step" - Dave Matthews Band

and especially Nickel Creek's "This Side" I quote:

Nickel Creek wrote:

It's foreign on this side,
And I'll not leave my home again.
There's no place to hide
But I don't think I'm scared...

Incidently, "nickel" was my first word as a baby. Very Happy

Surely Love Will Tear Us Apart is tempting fate a bit?

How about D-I-V-O-R-C-E by Tammy Wynette, Crashed The Wedding by Busted, or Your Cheating Heart by Ricky Nelson? Guaranteed to create the perfect atmosphere.

White Wedding by Billy Idol or Sway by Bic Runga might be a better choice, or just listen to Eamo, since he speaks from experience.

By demons be driven
A new level
and the bride could walk down the asile to: Walk (dimebag r.i.p.)

Beautiful!

Something tells me, if I ever get married, I'll elope, just to avoid the wedding reception music. .
