Does anyone know the best way of doing this?

I sent money from Australia to Korea through a telegraphic transfer some months ago but the exchange rate (through Travelex) was really bad (I lost hundreds of dollars). I've talked to my bank in Korea and they suggested my bank in Australia send AUD and my bank here will give me a good exchange rate but my bank in Australia says that this is not possible as Travelex changes the money before it gets to Korea.

The problem too is I need the money fast, and it's a large sum of money too.

Western Union worked fine for me last year. Very user friendly.

Why dont you have a card that you can use internationally, then you could leave the money in your bank and just use it here, you said that you have a bank in Australia.

Ta, good suggestions. I should have arranged for a card that I can use internationally before I left home. I think I will use Western Union.

I had a similar problem two years ago sending from NZ to Korea. Going from Korea to NZ cost me 13000 won for 5,000,000 and was very easy (even though I couldn't speak Korean) Going from NZ to Korea sending 500,000 cost 100,000won!! I couldn't believe it.
