I have been in contact with both the mother and the son.

They are seperate entities.

Son laid back to the extreme..is considering working out the last 3 months.

Mother is worried and rightly so.

don't you think that's strange?

It's not twilight zone stuff.

Sounds like his mum just has his interests at heart...but he isn't getting too worked up about it.

Myself, I'd be bloody annoyed if some cheapskate boss was using my boy as slave labour.

Me too, after reading these couple of threads -- I'd like to see the "boy" stand up for himself.

I appreciate your concern, mom, but it would be better directed at him than here.

i suppose you would say a woman who was attacked.."deserved it"
what would a conscientious, easy going ...friendly ..true diploma with two majors...caring individual about himself..friends and students...do to deserve abominable treatment and invasion of privacy and 3 months of no pay...and no LOR and not getting his true and rightful diploma...which was given in its original state..in good faith for his E-2 visa..???

I worked in enough crime labs to see real crime..victims...and the perps who get away...

do you resemble the perp Joe dufus?
where on earth do you get off....thinking that an individual has no right to privacy, pay or respect...when he continues to work without pay because he has contractual obligations...

street-savvy..no he is not...sheltered...yes...
living on a military base all of one's life does that to you...enclosed compounds without needing anything from the outside does not prepare one for the outside life..

have a heart Joe dufus...please think before you speak...

You have to excuse Joe, he's still in his honeynoon period. He's being treated quite micely here so far, He hasn't got his paychexk yet he knows all about the system, "supposedly". Let's just wait and see what Joe thinks when July/August come around.

Sorry dimnd to offend you and I do have your sons' best wishes at heart but it really does sound like he needs to show a lot more backbone....I hope it all works out well for him.

Yeah, me too. I was wrong to be suspicious. Well, more confused than suspicious. Anyway, best of luck to him. Ideally he'll get registered here and people can help him directly. Learning to fight one's own battles (and yes, getting bruised a bit in the process) is part of growing up, just as natural as a mother's instincts to protect her child and fight those battles for him. Or did my parents raise me wrong? They may have, who knows! Confused

Nobody said that these are not legitimate complaints. It's just that people on this forum generally don't like third-person reporting.

dimnd,

In my opinion, you need to try to understand the culture of this forum. Every internet community has its own culture with value systems that may or may not resemble the value system that you have in your offline community. Part of this forum's culture is distrust and skepticism of third person reporting.

I'm not saying that this value-system is a good thing, but it exists and you're not going to change it by arguing with individual posters.

I've seen it over and over again. A girlfriend describes her boyfriend's experiences and she gets blasted. A boyfriend describes his girlfriend's experiences and he gets blasted. A person describes his or her friend's experiences and he or she gets blasted. A person describes an acquaintance's experiences and gets blasted. And now, a parent describe's an offspring's experiences and gets blasted.

Part of the reason for this is the very fact that the internet has a reputation for false reporting. Another part of this is that third-person reporting tends to be less accurate than first person reporting.

Arguing with individuals is not going to change the culture of this internet community and I personally believe that this particular value of this internet community has a great deal of validity.

I'm not saying that you should stop posting on this forum. However, if you do continue, then you should try to understand and accept the value system of this community and that probably means that ignoring the posters who are going to attack you will be the best course of action.

In addition, I must say that I think it was foolish to include detailed identifying information in your posts. From your most recent post, we know the name of the school, it's location, the name of the director, and the name of your son. I think that you should try to keep in mind that there is no reason to think that the director of this school would be unable to read the posts on this forum. If he does read this forum, and some hakwon directors do, then you could be making things worse for your son by including such detailed identifying information. If the director is as horrible as you describe, and if he knows about these posts, then I wouldn't put it past him to make conditions even worse for a person who is involving the authorities.

Please, do not let your frustration lead you to make statements that could make things worse for your son. Assuming that you are a real person, then I urge you, for your son's sake, to edit your previous posts to remove identifying details.

No doubt. Dimnd, you just took the name of the school, location, director's name, recruiter's name, and the name of an another employee at the school and put it out in the public eye of the internet, on a site that teachers and schools read. And also reveal what course of action that you, your son, and his GF are planning to deal with this issue. He may be laidback as you say, but after seeing everything play out here in public with names and all, I'd imagine he's going to be one hella nervous fella every time he walks into that school.
