Have you been to Yeosu? What was it like? Do you think it is worth a visit? Were there any nice beaches there for swimming? I hear the boat tour can be fun. Was there a helpful tourist information center there? What else can you tell me about this out of the way place surrounded by water? Does the fact that it is surrounded by water make it a cooler climate? |

Yeosu is really nice. I didn't visit any beaches there, but there's loads to see and do. Check out Hangil-am, a hermitage built into a cliff where you can see stunning sunrises. It's a 40-minute local bus ride outside of Yeosu. There's also an island (Odong-do? I forget) connected to the city-centre by a causeway which is nice for a leisurely stroll. The large pavilion and museum in town is also worth checking out. |

I enjoyed Yeousu as well. Took the tour boat around the islands which was great, to say nothing of seeing 60 year olds (male and females) go on a karaoke tear and offer me soju from their generous supply. I also agree the attached island with causeway was nice and the temple on the cliff was nice, though brief. |

It is a cute place to visit, honestly very beautiful. Don't work there, it is a really hideous place. It's trouble with a capital T. |

I'll second that.
Although there are a few decent schools there.
Anyway - climate: in the summer, hot. No, the water doesn't cool it down.
Beaches: A few nice ones, actually. They're all outside of town, but it'll only cost you a few thousand won in cab fare to get out to them.
The boat tours are okay. Definitely check out Odongdo and the hermitage, as mentioned above. Check out the "amusement park" next to Odongdo for laughs too. I dare you to ride the spinny bumpy wheel that'll give you spine damage. I double dog dare you.
There's a good tourist information booth by the entrance to Odongdo. They can supply you with maps, etc. |

My friends who have worked there have had few complaints. In fact, they liked two things in particular:
1. Privates are considered, well, private. Just follow the Korean way: be discreet, and no one will hassle you about it, including your owner. (Two buddies have had all theirs set up by their hagwon's owners.)
2. The going rate for said privates is 50 000. |
