Shocked I saw my first Korean with an afro in public this long weekend. Shocked I just about crapped myself laughing.

I really had no idea why this guy would be wearing an afro....it was in Gangnueng on walking street and it was obvious he thought he was a 'player' or somethng. Funny stuff

Whatever did happen to The Bubble Sisters.

Did they try to go on tour in America and get lynched?

You haven't been looking hard enough. I see them regularly, at least one a week.

Not to mention us ajummas, of course. We may be stylish to a level far beyond the dreams of some young pretender, but when it boils down, it's a perm, and in my case a particularly splendid one at that.

Maybe the Koreans have belatedly discovered Kid n Play?

Afros are kewl... especially that one on Edwards haha. Where is "walking street"? Or was it just a typo?

Edit: No more Edwards... I think your avatar was clearly too wide hehe. Very Happy

Ajummas do indeed have this hair style covered. Old news indeed. I have seen a few younger Korean women with Afros as well. I thought they looked ok. The hippy outfit that went with it however...

afros: been there done that. they are damn hot in the korean summer though.

over the past 5 years or so, a lot of the "hip-hop" kids have gotten afros. ewha univ. area has a small street with a bunch of salons that do afros, corn rows, extensions etc.

There's a waiter who works at the Goose in Bupyeong and he has an afro. It doenst look that bad on him. You have to have a cute, endearing face to pull off an afro.

The first (budding) Korean afro?

Ok, so not nice....but one of my uni students came to class with his hair quasi-froed (sp?) in '99 I think...an uncontrolled cackle burst from my pie hole...I never saw him with that do again...

well first of all afros went out with Jimmy Hendrix.

Now some people can pull off an afro and well.....some people just cant. The poor soul I saw that day could not....it was possibly the worst hair decision of all time. If I had a picture I would post it so you could laugh too.
