Does anyone have any suggestions for art projects I could do with my JK class? Any ideas are welcome.

If you are in kindie classes for the long run...or at least a year...you might want to invest in some arts and crafts books for toddles and young children...I found some good ones on amazon.

I have quite a few and would let you see them...but alas I live in Incheon. But if you want to make a trip out...and then down to the local photo copy place...you are welcome to come

I too used to do a lot of seasonal crafts with my kindie students. In between holidays, I would often connect our arts and crafts to the storybook that we were reading. Reading a book about fish, make some underwater scenes; reading about dinosaurs, do a dinosaur craft, etc.

There tons of websites out there aimed for teachers/parents of kindergartners/preschoolers. Most aren't specifically ESL/EFL, but arts and crafts transcend language. Send me a PM if you are having trouble finding sites.

Pipe cleaners. Construction paper. Glue. Sparkly stuff. Macaroni. Get all that stuff and get creative. Make them draw pictures. The messier the project the better.

I saw an interesting artist selling her work on a street corner in Dublin once. She had taken postcards and magazine pictures, apparently, put them in nice little frames, and then "modified" them with markers and other tools. They were quite creative. Maybe you could do something with found objects or photos, too.

There are millions upon milions of crafts you can do with kindie. I have found my kids use their english the most during art time.

Potato stamps - Cut some potatoes or any other found objects and let them dip it into paint. This is especially great for younger kids as it helps them with motor skills.

milk carton baskets. Let kids lue paper, glitter, stickers, etc on those little milk cartons (with the top cut off). Punch two holes in the side and put a pipe cleaner and voila! I use their baskets as a part of the reward system, if i give them candy or stickers, tey love to put them in their baskets.

paper plate tambourines. - give each child two paper plates (e-mart or walmart) and lert them decorate them. put some dry rice or lentils in between the two plates. Glue or staple them together. Kids love them during songtime.

Classic pencil jars-on cans (file the tops down before hand!!) and them them go nuts decoratin them. good gifts for mom and dad, and useful in the classroom.
