I have the Korean version of Windows XP. It signs me in to windows messenger whenever I start the computer. Since I don't understand a lot of Korean (although I can read it), I can't figure out how to stop it from doing this. It bothers me and my girlfriend, since we share the computer. If anyone can tell me what to click to shut it off, it would be much apreciated.

You need to go to "Control Panel", "User Accounts" and disable the ".NET passport" associate with your account. |

| I can get into my user account but I don't know how to disable the net passport. Its in Korean. |

Open up messenger and goto "Tools", 3rd tab from the left at the top of the program. "����" in Korean.
At the bottom, the last selection, choose "options". "�ɼ�" in Korean.
From here, choose again the 3rd tab from the left. "�⺻����" in Korean. These are the defaults you can choose from.
From here, the first entry is the one to uncheck. It will read "Windows�� �����Ҷ� �ڵ����� ����"...this means "run messenger automatically when Windows starts". Unchecking this should solve the problem. |

I do know a little Korean, just not a lot of computer stuff.
Anyway, Demophobe, thanks for the help. It doesn't show up unless I click on it now. When I do, it still shows me as signed in. Am I signed in until I sign out or is it signing me in automatically the first time I open the program? |

You need to go into MSN Messenger and click on TOOLS > OPTIONS > GENERAL (i.e. exactly the same place as what Demophobe told you); then untick the option that says "Allow automatic sign in when connected to the Internet" (it's the 3rd one down, well in the English version anyway); then click on APPLY. |

Signed in or not, it shouldn't matter. If you uncheck the boxes that have been pointed out, it shouldn't load on boot.
Now, if all else fails, here is a sure-fire way of killing it. |
