7 times higher than the US and twice as high a Japan, Korea is experiencing an epidemic. I saw this on BBC, CNN and then found a website for it. I was amazed as Korean has Confucian values and the US is more often the one that neglects the elderly, or so I thought????

Seriosuly, what is happening in Korea with its divorce and suicide rates? It is becoming a hub of social problems?

Korean Man: yabasayo my father committed suicide.

Police: what happened?

Man: he jumped off roof and died

police upon investigating find out two things....father was diagnosed with an expensive medical condition. One of two things happened. The father not wanting to burden his children committed suicide. The son not wanting his father to become a burden helped him off the roof.

Not wanting to cause loss of face police go with option 'A' investigation closed.

Grotto, elaborate more on the son "helping his [ailing] father off the roof."
How is that done?

It was his Dad Jack, on the roof, and he tried to help his Dad Jack off.

I would hesitate to infer that people are helping their parents commit suicide. If I was infirm and heading for worse, I'd be jumping off the roof, too. I think that's personality and an increase in elderly in society that we are seeing here.
