This is a really simple and easy question:
My GF and I are probably moving to Busan in September because she got a good job teaching math there. I am wondering about the Haeundae beach area and how it would be to go bike riding around there. Are there any places to go road cycling there, or are the roads really crowded and congested like they are around Seoul? Also, any other information about that area would be helpful.

I was down there last weekend. The beach was nice but the area didn't really feel like Korea to me at least not what I'd been used to in Daegu. I haven't seen that much of Korea though, just Daegu, Gyeongju, and that part of Busan. It felt very western and touristy right along the beach. Tons of western restaurants and more round eyes than I'd seen in awhile.
It didn't seem like an ideal place for riding bikes but the further you move away from the beach and the crowds the better it would be for that (I would think). The landscape looked pretty much like the rest of Korea though. Urban centres with nice hills in the distance. I was there for a long weekend though, so it was probably more crowded than usual. |

I can't see it would be suitable for cycling.....it is just as bad as Seoul but if you go tpwards Ulsan it would be a bit better...but you still have to worry about the mad car drivers...
I think riding a bike on the road here is a death wish |

Or a way to say, 'look at my cute butt tightly sheathed in shiny black lycra glistening in the sunshine and bowling you over, baby'.
I also can't understand the trust bicycle riders have in the train of vehicles speeding so closely by them.
But.. Haeundae is on the northern edge of Pusan. So you'll be heading into the countryside along the coast running up to Ulsan, 30 km north. |

dude, priorities all wrong, more like what is the bikini quotient like? Numbers arern't that good, but are the best for Korea!    |

For biking.. YES!
If you are at Haeundae Beach.. just go (southward) from the beach.. go around the 'mermaid' statue (there are rocks there).. its south of the beach.. and if you climb a few rocks right there.. you get into a really nice and quiet large bike path/rollerskate rollers/walkers/joggers/etc. Its really nice.. and follows the ocean in that area as well.
Absolutely beautiful. |

| Why would you cycle in the traffic. Dalmaji hill is a great mountain north of the the beach it leds into a quaint fishing village from there you can ride up the coast along a small road, that looks loke Oregon. |

Duuuude, read the original post: it says, "Im moving there with my GF..." So chix in bikinis are mostly just eye candy only. Besides, they are chix in bikinis in KOREA.. so.... |

Well, exactly, why would I cycle in the traffic? There are certainly better places in the world to do road biking than Korea (or pretty much anywhere in Asia) because of the traffic... but some places are alot worse than others.... Seoul is a "deathwish". Korea actually has 1 or 2 scenic places such as Seoraksan and Chirisan parks and Jeju... those dont have very much traffic except during holidays.... |

Tiger's right. If you keep going on the road towards Songjong beach and past towards Gijang you can get alot of cycling done. The key is to go earlier in the day before all the traffic builds up.
Last weekend the traffic from Haeundae to Songjong was insane. Took me 25 mins to get a taxi there when it's usually a 5-10 mins thing. |

| If your job is anywhere near that area, get an apt. in New Town. It's one of the most modern and convenient areas I've been in Korea...and it's only 10 minutes walk from the beach. |

cool, ok.. actually i think we got a place that comes with the job and I have no idea where it is.. I hope its in the new town tho... |
