Hi, all-

I'm settling into Seoul (Shinchon)t quite a lot (though the crowds and pollution are exhausting). I got a room in a goshiwon (not as tiny as some I've seen) and it's fine, but the bed is probably the most uncomfortable place I've ever slept (and I've slept on stone slabs in China, and floors). I can feel every spring digging into my ribcage and back. Do they have egg crate mattress pads here in Korea? Where could I find them? In the U.S. they're about $8-15. I think it would make my sleeping experience bearable.

I don't know what an egg crate matress pad is, but there are lots of 'blanket stores' around. They sell matress pads for yo's. They are cheap. One or two of them should do the trick.

How to find one? Walk up and down the street. Sorry. Can't be any more helpful than that. I once bought one from a street vendor on the rotary at Shinchon, but obviously I have no idea if the seller is still there.

Thats the right advice. Ask the owner to remove the mattress & go with a "yo" -- a sleeping pad from any bedding store. Synthetic-filled run about $10, cotton maybe $20. Stack 2 for extra softness if you want.

i've driven myself a little crazy trying to buy a 'yo' before. no one understood what i was talking about (my korean is very weak). i was saying 'maturisu' and 'yo' at tongdaemun and bedding stores and got nowhere. anyone care to give me a korean phrase?

If he/she wants a double bed, is the word yo-yo?
