I've been harassed by the same undercover cop twice in the last month. How do I know he's a cop? He told me. Works for Konkuk police station or something like that. Right. Anyway, he asks questions like "Where do you work?" and "How many hours do you work?" Obviously NOT casual street conversation. Funny thing is, this d**kmunch didn't recognize me this morning (he bothered me on my way to work at 8a.m. this morning) but I recognized his sorry ass. He started asking the usual b.s. questions and I said to him "Your questions are strange, goodbye." He laughed. What a d**k. So, heads up if you live in the Sangye-Jungye-Hagye triangle and you're engaging in questionable business ventures. What really gets my goose is that I'm legit!

Dont be gullible. Did you show you some police ID that is verifiable? Go to Konkuk police station and tell them about it. It is illegal to impersonate a police officer.

I don't doubt that you're being harassed by a cop here, but just as an observation:

in my experience, "Where do you work?" is, in fact, a fairly common topic of casual street conversation with foreigners. Not so much the "how many hours" question.

out of curiosity, is it illegal to refuse to show your ARC card to a cop if he asks for it?

after some retardedness in itaewon a couple weeks ago, a cop asked to see my alien card. i refused on the grounds that i hadn't committed a crime.

it was really strange, he seemed to not understand why someone would refuse to give up their ARC number. as well, with his limited english i think the fact that he was even asking for it was just to look fussy and official.

Yes.

funny, perhaps nothing came of it because when i wrote down the number
8.25-09423897-2348971912-91249217 and the name "flex beethoven" he seemed pleased with that and left me alone.

Yeah maybe he's just making convo because he's like "ah that would be the life... only working 5 hours a day, 5 days a week!"

I should mention that when this champion of subtlety approached me the first time, he said he was with MILITARY INTELLIGENCE. That time, he asked me "Are you in the military?", "What kind of work do you do?" and "Where do you work?". Should have mentioned that in my original post.

When I say he's a "cop", I mean he's from immigration. Yeah, one of those. I doubt very seriously he is a "cop from Konkuk" or that he "works for military intelligence". Obviously he harbors delusions of grandeur. What an apple knocker.
