|
I'm going to buy a latop this week to use for teaching (audio/video files, powerpoint, etc). Nobody knows better than me that laptops are 9/10ths useless, but I want that 1/10th useful portability.
I was looking at an L-series VAIO for under 1,000,000 at Yongsan a little while ago and it was the size I wanted (10.4 screen and really light) but a little weak on the speed (833Mhz). I don't expect much from a laptop, but are there any laptops that are friggin' small, around a million, and running at least 1 Ghz? |

Where do refurbished laptops wind up in Korea? That's what you might look into, Beaver. I've got my eye on a IBM T30 to replace the Tecra 8100 I'm currently typing away on. |

I dont' think the beave is looking for a 15" monitor, he wants a small laptop not a wannabe desktop. |

Yeah, his post said he wanted a 9/10 useless 1/10 portable laptop. 15" would make it far too useful and too unportable. |

It still wouldn't be useful, just unportable. |

I dunno, Soops, I get a lot of use out of this 15-incher laptop. |

Some good stuff here. Thanks.
I'm looking for a small unit, just a glorified mp3/dvd player that can do very occasional and non-intensive photoshop and msoffice stuff in emergency situations. Its main purpose in life in life will be to organize mp3s and video clips for listening activities because I have the home computer for the heavy lifting (editing the video clips and sound bites for example).
The Vaio L-series stuff is nice and small, and thanks to Hater Depot I've found some nice averatec stuff and their 1000 series seems to be the right combo of money and power. The one that I really like, though, is the Averatec C3500 tablet notebook -- that would fit the bill in all areas including cost. Now I'll just have to see if I can track one down in Korea.
Thanks for the ideas. |
