Big ups to NY Fries. A Korean teacher at my school let me know about that place and it has been a regular lunch time stop ever since. I love the poutine but the dogs are kinda average. Yet, an average hot dog in Korea is better than no hot dog in Korea. Which brings me to the greatest new thing in Apku the hot dog vendor guy who hangs out where rodeo street strarts to curve. Not only is he open late so I can get my drunken grub on but he also grills the dogs up fresh to order and oh wait it gets better he wraps them in bacon. Whats that you say he wraps them in bacon? Yes I know that either sounds heavenly or gross to some but to me its mouth watering. Give him a shot some time you won't regret it. Oh yeah this was about NY fries, yeah they are great too.

God bless the food choices of Apkujeoung!

It wasn't until I came to Korea that I discovered NY FRIES was in fact a Canadian franchise that had nothing to do with NY (guess it had more of a cachet than "Moncton Fries").

Life's like that.

The freedom fries idea started with a restaurant owner in North Carolina at a restaurant called "Cubbies". There was a Cubbies near my university. I went there one time and the burgers were horrible. Greasy flat grilled meat pressed too thin with a slab of chili on it. The only freedom the fries offered me was the freedom of choice to go somewhere else next time.

There was a tall guy I knew who worked there for a while. He used to sell a lot of weed out of the store. This was all long before the freedom fries thing though...

poutine is a quebecois thing. it's french fries with cheese curds and gravy on top. here there aren't any cheese curds, so it's just cheese. it's very delicious and fatty.
