If a Kyopo is qualified (ie has a degree), is his or her job prospects as good as an white person, taking into account pay etc?

One friend says they have good prospects, better than white teachers (he also showed me some rates of pay which are higher than white teachers on daves job board), and the other friend says their chances are terrible and they get paid much less.

Whats the truth of it?

Kyopos have fewer opportunities in the generic hakwon market. (Asian faces and names are not useful for advertising.) However, if they can teach grammar, they have better job prospects in TOEIC-type hakwons. If they are bi-lingual then they have better job opportunities in fields other than teaching.

I'd say overall average for Gyopos is lower, but that there are some special opportunities that only Gyopos can get that are much better than what whities normally get.

From what Ive seen there are less jobs (but they are still there) and the pay is much higher! Not sure what the competition for jobs is like though.

All of the gyopos I know in Korea (my girlfriend and her friends) are employed in the TEFL industry and make way more money than my whitey self.

all the kyopos have to work like Koreans though..
so they may make more than whities as a salary base.. but they are working their asses off!! and they got get housing or other benefits! well most dont anyway some do!!

but in general a hakwon or school will chose a whitie over a kyopo .
but rememeber they need kyopos and korean teachers too..
so their is a balance,, but a hakwon without foreigners emmmm many do well grammar schools, but otherwise its suicide!

There are some good opportunities for gypos. If it takes a Whitey 3 days to find a job, it'll take a Yellow Fellow 6 days but the job will be better.

I cannot for the life of me understand how Koreans practice racsism in this regard. Its too odd for me to grasp. I'm familiar with racism and racial paternalism but this aspect I cannot for the life of me understand. Instinctively, I would think they'd want a race brother but they don't.

I thought CDI liked gypos more than Pale Face and they pay better or is that IVY leauge gypos?

My understanding of it is that if the gyopo in question has good Korean language skills, then there's a whole world of opportunities available to them that the average white person wouldn't have much of a chance at. If they don't speak much Korean, then yeah, they're at the bottom of the pecking order for teaching jobs.
