Recruiter opens transcript, oops, get a new one. Employer opens transcripts, oops pull out another. Looks like you will have to allow at least 3 sealed transcripts for each job you apply for.
the whole thing is daft.

Well I'm not sure if it's being implemented just yet. I got a new E2 visa three weeks ago and there was no mention of a sealed transcript and this was with the MOE. I think it's just a scare tactic....people who can't get one (for various reasons) will not be applying.

I would apply and tell them that I will provide the sealed original when you apply for my visa.

Question. What do you do if all 30 copies arrive in one envelope?

Just to be on the safe side I ordered 4 copies and all four copies arrived in one envelope. Even after I asked them in my request to send them separately Evil or Very Mad

Why do you need to show degrees and transcripts to anyone?

Wouldn't a more efficient process be for Immigration to open an office with a couple of pretty secretaries whose job is to receive and check all documents from anyone wanting to teach in Korea. If OKed, they issue the E-2 and a certificate that we send with job applications.

Too simple. Never happen.

I don't.

I keep them just in case in the future I would be required to have them - for whatever reason. You never know what the future will hold.

Or how about bringing a sackful of transcripts in one sealed envelope, bring it to immigration and insist they open the envelope and certify each and every transcript as being official. Yeah thats the ticket...we each bring in 100 transcripts on one sealed envelope and make them certify each and every copy...I would be willing to burn off a sick day to do that Laughing

I was just offered a job and the employers said they need sealed transcripts that will be sent (still sealed) to Immigration.

Why would you send sealed transcripts to immigration, if they don't have all your other documentation? If immigration get transcripts without the degree, etc. I can't imagine what they are going to do with them. Maybe have a bonfire and weinie roast?? Laughing

Again, Korean logic goes out the window. Let's say someone is applying to ten universities. That's ten universities that require transcripts up front. Now, if you did your MA at a different university from your undergrad degree, that's another ten transcripts. If you did a year or two in a PHD program at a third university, that's another ten transcripts.

Have they any idea how costly that is? Even before one is even considered for an interview!! Its a minimum of $240.

Only Koreans could think this is a reasonable requirement for applying to a job.

Sometimes I think I living in the land that logic forgot.

well reminded; I have sent a letter to my uni reminding them to send them separately Embarassed so we'll see what happens.

If they arrive in one massive envelope, it'll be case of keeping a tight hold on that boyo until I have signed the contract and everything is watertight..only then let immigration go nuts at playing pass the parcel. It'll be an expensive opening ceremony.

I have an unsealed notarized copy that I just tell employers about and show to them.

When I do eventually get the sealed copies, the only people who would touch these would be the company I signed the contract with and they hopefully wouldn't be opened until immigration got their hand on 'em.

When they mean sealed, what are the parameters here?
Do they need to be put in official envelopes from the university?
Any specific size envelope?

That's where it gets confusing. I have ordered sealed copies and they are on their way. Let's see what happens when they get here.
