Listening to it on that streaming site (for the THIRD time...)
JesusGod, this album rules! Although I may download for the time being, I will certainly buy this cd in its legal form once it's finally available.
If only WS was playing SummerSonic... |

Bought it yesterday and have listened to it around 9-10 times. Amazing album- much better than I had expected. |

Nope. No release date available either.
Give it a month or so; that's how long it took before Elephant was released.

Ugghh...mediocre at best. Soundgarden meets Rage Against the Machine=lame pop. Just my opinion. Cornell should have gone solo with a different band. |
While I agree that Cornell as a vocalist would have been better served even sticking with the Eleven folks, I wouldn't diss the Audioslave album so quickly.
I was a big fan of RATM, and even bigger Soundgarden fan, and Cornell's solo album was one of the best albums ever in my books. I thought he was going to go a more bluesy route with his career, which would have been really cool. However, the RATM/Cornell combo is doing something that many aren't any more....serving up some good old-fashioned R&R.
While everyone is struggling to be new and different, these guys are just letting themselves be 40+ and fine with what they do best. Nothing wrong with that.....save a bit of "been there, done that"....it is still good rock.
Some more good stuff:
The Crystal Method: Legion of Boom.
Dave Matthews band: Stand Up
REM: Around the Sun. |

Couldn't disagree more. One of the worst musical purchases of my life. I guess it just goes to show - different strokes...
Now Audioslave, on the other hand, stands out as one of the better R&R albums to appear in a while. Nothing earth-shattering, just good ol'-fashioned R&R. Love it. |

If we're going to turn this into a 'more good stuff' thread, then-
Spoon - Gimme Fiction; fantastic, trying to get my hands on their previous album "Kill the Moonlight" without success
Ben Folds - Songs for Silverman; more good stuff from Ben but if you didn't like his other stuff you won't like this either
Ted Leo - Shake the Sheets; the best post-punk power pop EVER. Buy it (and all his other albums) and take all that juvenille sk8te punk crap made to appeal to rebellious 14 year old girls with tongue studs and throw it in the trash where it belongs.
Elliott Smith - From a Basement on a Hill; actually it's an older one, been out for a year now, BUT YOU SHOULD BUY THIS ALBUM
Arcade Fire - Funeral; (check out what the rest of the world is raving about)
DMB - Stand Up; best DMB since Crash IMO
British Sea Power - Open Season; part of that 80s revival going on
Pinback - Summer in Abaddon a toss up as to whether you'd find it in the indie or the electronica section, but there ARE guitars and it's NOT dance electronica.
Rogue Wave - Out of the Shadow; Not sure what to say about this. Download "Every Moment" and "Endless Shovel" and see if you like it.
2 Albums I wanted to buy but did not (and- on principle- will not) were the Gorillaz and Coldplay due to these albums having CD copy-protection (Pleased to report that the White Stripes DOES not and it's also very reasonably priced!).
OF COURSE I have software that can crack CD protection just as everyone else on the planet with an internet connection does so screw you and your record company- I'll DL the damned thing off of PtP.
You, Mr. Record Comapny Exec, want me to stop DLing music and start buying the albums yet you still want to try and prevent me from listening to it on my mp3 player? Go suck an egg.

I disagree. I love Folds's other stuff, but this album is so mediocre it's not even funny. And the way 'Judy' was remixed from the EP-released version is just god awful.
I'm still trying to figure out who the hell Silverman is. My guess is he's the CEO of Epic or something, and this album was just Ben fulfilling contractual obligations.
It does get better after successive listenings, but it's still the worst piece of material he's ever released.

agree to disagree
Sure it had high notes and low ones, but the first 5 songs are very strong and Landed and Jesusland make up for the weak points IMO. |

Yep. Ever heard of Hanson?
It's a couple of words shorter and a world away from "the Hanson brothers".
Besides, it doesn't make my point at all any other way.

Thank sweet Lord Jaysus! If anyone mistakes my user name for the boy-band while the 'bros are right there in the avatar, well, God help him/her. |
