I just don't get all this bad press, People Recruit are so nice! When I got a job through them in Busan, I got off the plane to meet them and my new boss, but he took one look at me and decided I didn't look blonde and blue-eyed and Calfornian enough, and refused to hire me even though he'd just paid for me to come and already seen a picture of me! I'd only been in Korea 10 mins! To this day, I don't know why...sure I don't look like a gorgeous surfer type, just a less exotic Northern Brit, but I'm not that bad looking. Sad

Anyway, rather than throw me in a yogwan at my own expense, one of the girls that works there let me stay in her place for a week, cooked meals for me, took me around Busan, and basically treated me like a king while they found a new job for me. I can't imagine any other recruiter in Korea doing all that, so yeah, I admit, I'm friends with them all now. A few months later, when I was a newbie, they would invite me to hang out with them and other foreign teachers to make sure I wasn't lonely...I've got friends now, but they were so nice to me I still make sure to keep in touch now and then.

I'm not saying anyone's lying, but I have to say to anyone criticizing these guys that things might not be as they appear...for instance, natemk, how on earth did them calling your boss to help you solve your problems make those problems worse?...I'd hate to have not used these guys simply because a couple of people said vaguely that they were just typical recruiters just concerned about themselves.

Sure this is a pretty obvious recommendation for using them, but they're seriously the nicest, sweetest most friendly recruiters you can find, I had to say something after reading some of the other posts!

Cheers.

Hmm..thanx for the advice. They have just emailed me in the last week or so to say they have received my application. I am Australian and they didn't seem to have any problems with that...but I will make sure I carefully look over any offers they make after reading all of this.

Hi All,

I have been talking to Heyya at peoplerecruit for some time now and so far they seem like a great bunch of girls. Anyway I was wondering though if anyone else has head to send their original degree for E2 visa issuance. Heyya claims this is a new requirement which I confess I found rather dubious at first....however finding information on this even from the local consulate seems very difficult to say the least. Any thoughts?

She's (?) right, a friend of mine was unfortunate enough to come just after the law change and so had to send his original degree to his recruiters. But they gave it straight back to him as soon as he stepped off the plane, wasn't a big deal in the end.

Big change from when I came years ago, I hadn't even graduated (officially) yet and so had to send a form with a Uni stamp saying that I had technically graduated and would get a physical degree soon. But that was fine then. And no damn sealed transripts!

Which reminds me, even a JP-witnessed photocopy won't do, you'll have to send the original. And don't listen to the consulates, their info is way behind the reality of the immigration department in Korea. When I went back to Kiwiland in December, they'd never heard of the sealed transcripts thing. Rolling Eyes

thanks excitinghead....that is interesting news.....you would think it would be easier to obtain this sort of information and consulates would be more up to date.
