As per usual the silent majority get made to look bad by the vocal minority.

Well said.

It reminds me of the media. Millions scared by things much less likely to affect you than a passing car in the street.

Yeah, shame on those Korean news outlets for answering the question that many of their readers would have in their headline, of all places. Damn them for serving their readership. The papers should've made the readers work for it a little more. News shouldn't come easy.

Koreans as a whole have not yet developed the capacity to laugh at themselves. So serious.

That would take introspection and the admission that Korea is not perfect or at least to be regarded as such.

IMPOSSIBLE!

I don't know. I think Koreans can laugh at themselves. They don't seem to enjoy jokes from Leno or whoever. But many Koreans are critical of Korea and see problems with the society.

A few years ago an ajumma in a class I taught said she thought "Koreans are simple" in their sense of humor. So maybe the way a guy like Leno puts a joke about Korea seems offensive due to culture?

You've seen how slapstick silly some of the Korean humor can be? It's like "Home Alone" ..... whatever seems funny, I guess.
