That guy sounds pretty mad, in both senses of the term.
I think to your average Egyptian $1500 USD is a small fortune (especially if you're forced to use the official govt exchange rate rather than the black market one).
no way to tell if he is 'your average Egyptian' since- as On The Other Hand Points out- he doesn't give any details.
