|

Is there anywhere in Korea where one can get notarised copies made of one's degrees? Were would one find a Korean notary (is there a Korean term), and what proof of identity would one need?
Thanks in advance for any help! |

Most lawyer's offices have notary services. I have had many documents notarised here. I think you just need your ARC but it might be wise to take your passport too. I think it costs around 30,000 KRW (but don't bitch at me if I am not spot on!) |

I agree with Wang-ja. My wife and I had to get something notarized and we went to a lawyer to have it done. I think it was 25,000won. It probably depends on which lawyer you go to, or maybe the service is slightly more expensive in Seoul.
This might help:

last time I needed a copy of my degree notorized I took the original to immigration in Donghae, they photocopied it, and notorized it for me.
Cost zero, zip, nada!
Time 5 minutes.
Was accepted by Gyeonggi immigration without any problems. |

Sounds like Grotto's advice might be better. I still have my scanned "Certified Copy of True Original" saved to disk that I had done in Montreal back in '97 and it has been accepted with no question up to now. With all the recent changes, next year may be different. |

Last time they took my notarized copies of the degree and transcripts (notarized by the Amer. embassy) without problem. Is this still good enough? |

Sorry, but I talked to a bunch of recruiters and about a dozen dim-witted imm, off. and they all said the same thing to me-

If they accepted them, I think it would've been a hell of alot easier than calling up the uni to request additional sealed copies of transcripts. Saves both time and money |
