Does anyone live in the Nowon-gu area of Seoul? Do you know of any websites with neighborhood descriptions? Thanks. |

When I'm poor, I say I live in No Won. Nowon seems to have an unusually large expat community. The place is OK, better than average. I spent alot of time there. |

Do a search for Junggye-dong. It's hagwon-city.
It's just korean suburbia. Many, many high-rises but pleasant enough. I'll post a picture or two later tonight when I get to my home computer. |

Nowon-gu is huge. If you live near Nowon/Sangye/Jungye it's totally 'burbular. Because it's the most densely populated area of Seoul (or was, anyway, I don't know) you'll see more sluts around Nowon station in 5 minutes than living a whole year in Apgujeong, and that's important if you're male. A gajillion way-gooks live in the area but you'll never get that "happy family" feeling. In fact, seems like folks rarely venture past their hogwon clicks. Strangee. |

Lived there for two years. Actually miss it as much as one can miss a Korean neighbourhood. The large expat community - at least back then - was lots of fun.
I'd take it over Bundang or Incheon, but wouldn't choose it over a location closer to the real city. The 45 minute subway ride gets old fast. |

I liked it too. Half hour cab ride to any of the central points of interest in Seoul, and a generally quiet and peaceful neighbourhood in and of itself. Fairly wide streets. Good department stores. Only 10 minutes from the setting of M*A*S*H which makes a good conversation point back in the home country. |

The best part of that place is on the subway...look up when the train arrives and it says:
Nowon Left.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic...
Are the subway trains really few and far between in Nowon? |
