what the hell does "dirty math" mean?
i would think that with the korean tendency to blanche at all things 'dirty' a 'dirty math' hagwon would go bankrupt immediately. |

I thought it was something like, "divide the legs and multiply". |

As near as I can figure:
  = Negligence Room
ι ȭ = General Deepening Room
Ŵ = Received Letter Preparation Room
   = College Preparation Room
I should sign up for the , because I have been neglected. |

Well in that case there's no way I'm going anywhere near the ι ȭ . I'm far too capacious already, even that great guy Squat Toilet can't make edge-to-edge contact, and that was with his ski-glove. |

someone else on the-board-who-cannot-be-named suggested that it was a course for 'rough maths', ie. really quick on-the-ball calculations. |

I had a minor bizarre chat with three young Korean women in Sinchon yesterday. They looked like first year E-dae students. One was working on some kind of survey. "Find a white person and interview him". I was sitting at the table outside the Sinchon Starbucks trying to get a tan before the rainy season. Anyway she gave me a questionnaire. I invited them to sit down. One girl had a small dog. This is an important detail.
Anyway, it was your typical survey... what do you like about Korea? How long have you been here? The English was a bit tortured like "Why don't you give me your email?"
Anyway, one of the questions was "What do you think of Korean social protection culture?"
Errr. Their English was pretty stinky but I tried anyway "what do you mean by this?"
The girl referred to her original notes and then asked her friend for help. The one with the dog said "mung mung tang". "Woof woof soup?" I thought. But no. That can't be right.
"Eating of the dog soup," the survey girl said.
"Oh boshintang!" I said back.
Made no bloody sense but I answered "It's part of Korean culture and should be understood within that context."
Huh. |
