				| More Foreigners to Get Permanent Residency Status Foreigners who invest $2 million or more and hire at least five South Korean nationals will be able to get permanent residency. Previously, permanent residency status was given only to foreigners who invest $5 million or more.

According to the revised enforcement decree of the Immigration Control Law, foreigners talented in science, management, culture or art will also be entitled to become permanent residency holders on condition of recognition from the justice minister.

"We need to expand the range of those eligible for permanent resident status as a way to attract more foreign investors and experts," an official at the Justice Ministry said. "We expect this revision will contribute to creating more jobs and therefore boosting the nations economy."

The revised law will take effect from Sept. 25.

				| There are better places to invest that sort of money and get permanent residency (even citizenship) than Korea....
The regulations, corruption, and labor relations make this place, uh....undesirable

But funplanet the Justice Ministry must be right.
