Where is everyone going this summer and how much are you paying for it (and where did you book your flight)?

I have a break from classes in the last week of July and I'm planning to go to Tokyo. I would have headed off to Taiwan or some similarily cheap place but wanted to visit a friend in Tokyo. Through JAL the tickets are about 300,000 won (on the high end, but I realize it's peak season). However, I'm on a waiting list with JAL. If that flight doesn't get confirmed, I also have a place of Asiana, but it's more, 560,000 (yikes). I'll go regardless, but it seems like a lot of money. What do you think the chances are that I'll move off the waiting list for the cheaper flight? I don't understand how Korean travel agents work...

Where is everyone else going?

Kuala Lumpur- 2 nights
Perhentian Besar- 11 nights

Could have paid 550,000 via Japan and Singapore, but opted for a direct flight at 750,000.

I was set on just sticking around here -- my 18-year old niece is coming over for a couple weeks, fun! -- but I got my summer schedule friday & theres another free week in there. Guess I should drop in on my old ma & the rest of the clan in Victoria BC for a few days. Ticket's free.

Next feb -- somewhere exotic & warm & new-to-me.

My vacation started two weeks ago.

So far I've spent it in Honolulu, Las Vegas, Michigan and Washington DC.

Planning to go to Los Angeles tomorrow or the next day.

I'll go to have my traditional wedding ceremony (we're legally married already) which many of my family members and friends will attend, then present at a conference in Shanghai, then come back... almost a month and a half outside Korea.

Does anyone know whether the vacation week in Ulsan (the Hyundai people) is the last week of July or the first week of August?

Ask your students!

That's how I found out which week the DSME shipyard is giving off as vacation (the first week of August, NOT last week of July this year).

If my first idea falls through (top secret), Plan B is the following three islands: Jeju, Bolgido, Ulleungdo.

So right now I have one expensive flight to Tokyo confirmed, and am on a wait list for a cheaper one (JAL). When should I expect to know how much I'll have to pay? I booked through Xanadu...

Thanks!
