I am without an air-con in my apartment, so my life sucks big time right now! In this heat, everything feels like a stuggle and I have to keep a tight lid on an inner bitchiness that rears it's ugly head in this DAMN heat!

I am spending too much time in the local PC Bang just to escape the heat.

I would much rather contend with a Canadian -15C than this energy draining heat wave.

How are you all keeping cool?

is your apartment hotter inside than the surrounding outside air?

Mine is, and I turned off the floor months ago, and I have two windows on either side to give me a crossbreeze too. I have no clue why its so hot, but I live in a sauna. At least I'm moving next week.

I hate the heat too, especially with the humidity. I have an aircon in the storage room in front of my apartment but I haven't had it installed yet. On weekdays I go to work at the hottest part of the day and this weekend I'm going to the bathhouse soon to cool off in the cold pool. I'll take a book and read
The trouble with using the air con to avoid the heat is that then I never get adjusted to the heat and get sick (nauseated and dizyy) if I go out. So I try to tough it out and get my body adjusted. I open the windows as soon as it starts cooling down and close them when it gets warmer out.
Where I come from in the US its often around 40 degrees but very dry. I hate the summer there too, but we have no air con. I hope it cools off during the rainy season.
I also much prefer winter.

My apartment is hotter than the outside air. And I only have one window, so no cross breeze action.

It might sound weird, but every summer I buy 2 or 3 cooler ice packs, wrap them in towels and sleep with them. It really helps. Also, a spray bottle of water, squirted every couple minutes on the skin helps cool things down.

Luckily I live by the river right now and can open up a lot of windows for a breeze.

Honestly, I don't have an AC and am not really feeling it (but when I head into Seoul I sure do).

Just go out and buy one of those wall AC units. That'll take care of the heat at home. Lucky for me my Office-tel is paid for as is all bills. I run that AC 24/7.

I hate the humidity here. It's not the heat that bugs me. I take a shower before I go out and when I come back, and I wash my face when I'm out. It's weird some places with AC's don't have them turned on, instead they open the doors and let the mosquitos in.

My apartment came with a wall mounted a/c. Thank god. If it didn't I'd have ponied up the $500 to buy my own. Even if I only had to use it one summer, I wouldn't care. 3.5 months of good sleep is hella more important to me.

We recently bought a new a/c. All well and good except for the fact that it's not powerful enough to suffiently cool the entire apartment. It won't drop lower than 24 degrees Celcius unless I close the bedroom door, which is where the unit is. Sometimes I want it at 21, 20, or even 19, you know?

it's raining now. Should continue for a few weeks, maybe even a month I was told. That will make things cooler.

Ha ha! 24 is as low as they're supposed to go. You must not have a large enough unit for the amount of pyung you've got.

Also, remember to clean the air filter and clear the inside of dust. Air filter can be run under water and air-dried.
