I'm really disappointed by the fact the Western humar doesn't go over very well in Korea. Many of the jokes rely on synonomous meanings for humor. This joke helps explain the concept to the students. Ernie played it on Bert,

E: I one the worm
B: I two the worm
E: I three the worm
B: I four the worm
E: I five the worm
B: I six the worm
E: I seven the worm
B: I eight the worm
E: Really? How was it? Was it yummy?

Sometime you need to give the "eight=ate" clue to drive it home along with other clues.

Korean child: Mum, where do I come from?
Korean mother: We found you under a bridge.*

Korean humour uses puns too.

* bridge = dari = legs

Oh no! 7,8,9!

I tried another Ernie and Bert joke when I was teaching "Thank you" and "You're welcome."

Teacher: 1-Q
Students: 2-Q
T: 3-Q
S: 4-Q (If the students get past this without saying F*** you then you're home free)
...
until
Students: 10-Q
Teacher: What?
Students: 10-Q!
Teacher: WHAT?
Students: 10-Q!
Teacher: Oh! You're welcome, you're welcome, you're welcome!
