Remember last year when they changed all the bus numbers and routes, like, overnight? That morning I remember all the people crammed into the subway terminals like sardines.... Or another time they put a new subway ticket checking computer into use without testing it first and the next morning no one could take the subway... or what actually happened was that pretty much everyone just hopped the gate when it was evident they couldnt pay.... then there was that bridge between Kangnam and dong seoul that collapsed a few years back because they didnt test the foundation adequately before using it... many many many more.... |

They changed all the routes but then they did give Koreans months and months of warning. However, in typical Korean style, no one paid attention until the day of the change over. "Oh. Is that what that's all about?" The mayor of Seoul, I remember, basically told the public where to stick it. Something along the lines of "This is typical of Seoul people..."

That was pathetic, I agree. I think the mayor apologized for that bone head move.
Last Chuseok, Woori bank shut down their ATM system for the entire holiday to change out the software. They gave people about 4 days of warning, all in Korean of course which meant their foreign clients had zero clue. It was a nice bit of stress on what should have been a damn relaxing 5 day weekend. Grr.

That was back in the 1994. The bridge was built in the mad development rush of the 70s. There are people, I've heard, that won't go to anything at the Olympic stadium arguing any building built in the '80s like the Sampoong department store or the Seongsu bridge are inherently unsafe. I would hope Korea has got its act together bridge/building wise since then and I'm willing to cut them some slack. |

I heard it was because the developer skimped on materials to save money (more profit), and built it out of specification. |

| Jeepers CLG you really work in a dump. Sounds to me like we need to start a betting pool on what will break down next at CLG's school. Sounds like a total dive. |

My school is almost 50 years old. And that explains a lot of its problems. They are building new bathrooms over summer (as we're going co-ed next year) so my summer camp will be sans bathroom facilities for part of the time so I'll be running home come 12.30! |
