Kia Ora,
ive been in Gwang Ju for a couple of weeks, works going ok, and i kinda have a social life, (with some koreans i met while travelling aussie), but going out with koreans, (as hospitable and friendly as they are), just aint the same as hookin up with kiwis, aussies, brits and getting s!@t faced. So if your in Gwang Ju and are keen to get lashed on fri/sat nights, give me a holla!. Also, my sleeping habits have been a lil messed up since i arrived here, and on fri morning i turned on the tv at 4 am (sky life sports channel), to find back 2 back games of aussie rules and nrl! sweet as!.
Kia Kaha! be strong! |

I heard from friends in Brissie that State of Origin is on at the mo'! But we don't have a TV. Not that I'm a huge rugby fan - but it would be nice to see.

This may have been so in years gone by, but lately Mad Season & Jimmy Bar are more popular, it seems..
Hey weatherman- care to comment? |

I have been a good monk these past weeks.
But if truth needs to be told, then I think the happening place is Jimmy Bar for Saturday nights. They have a foreign JD that night, and a foreign bartender too. Seems like everybody goes there. Late night, all the fun is at Mad Season, especially on the weekends. Blue Monkey is the other foreigner hangout. Seems to be have a nich in the market. |

Jimmy's is just along the road from the Grand Hotel and is by far the best foreigner hang-out.
Mad Season is where you should go if you feel like a dance. Be warned though, on a Sat night, the place doesn't fill about 'till around 3am. It's absolutely dead before then. Weird eh? |

Yeah but rugby and rugby league are two different codes. Rugby league has 13 players and your only allowed 6 tackles before you have to turnover the ball to the other side.
Rugby has 15.

anyway CLG, AFL has it's own state of origin too!!!
Edit: Do I sound like a whiney middle schooler??? Good!
Edit 2: Rugby Union and Rugby League are how we distinguish the two in Oz. Personally, I prefer League as those guys have nicer uniforms |

Though they've just renamed themselves "Soul Train". Shame about the name, but it's a good bar. |

Mate,
I realize your version of "football" is the pointy version, but Gwangju have a new footie (soccer) club at the Guus Hiddink Stadium (formerly known as the Gwangju World Cup Stadium) that you might want to check out.
I'm travelling from Busan to Gwangju for the game on Sunday.

It was changed last Thursday, the 12th. Seems like his friend bought the place off him. I heard that the 'Jimmy' of Jimmy Bar is opening a new place. All the old staff came back to work, and the mood has improved quite a bit because of this. If you are in Gwangju and want a drink, this would be the place. A very even mix of locals and foreigners, at least when I was there. |

gwangzoo is totally awesome and sweet. i got here last night and was supposed to meet friends outside the ymca on geumnam-no. unfortunately a large group of anti-american protesters were crowding the street so it took longer to find them than i expected, but we met eventually.
i like it here, but i've already had to cuss out some cholla kids for speaking ban-mal to me on the street, and whenever i buy something in a shop ajossi can't stop giggling.
could be at mad season tonight. |
