stupid korea.

i think that photo radar is total b.s. anyway, i got two speeding tickets, for a total of 100,000 won. the funny thing is that i was going that fast, i was going 95 km in an 80 and the other was 103 in an 80. my grandma used to drive faster than that.

anyway, i'm glad they didn't get me when i was going like 150 in a 100, that would have sucked.

so heed my warning, if you're driving in the taebek area, the photo radar works out there.

That white rectangular sign with the black camera on it is a warning that the road ahead is being filmed. Maybe you should watch for that sign and save your money for other things.

That's why I don't drive a car with a plate on the front. I drive a scooter *ahaha*.

One of the best inventions I found was a thing that goes on your front license plate. It causes the plate to bend forward at an angle when you drive at about 30kmh or above (wind resistance). Then the cameras can't read your plate. Saw it on KBS-TV.

I don't know what is worse: Signs advertising the upcoming cameras or the people who get caught speeding after viewing the sign.

thats cheap... you get a $100 fine for being 3kms over the limit in aust... yet you have two tickets at 15kms and 23kms over the limit...

in 4 years driving, I've racked up over $500 in speeding tickets. . . remember, not all the cameras are 'advertised', and they have quite a few portable ones. Those are the ones that have nailed me. How many times have I dreamed of just swerving to give those portable cameras the old baody blow with my bumper. . .alas, the cop is usually not too far away, anticipating that exact maneover. Taebaek is a bad area, as is down south coming into Busan / Masan area. . .loads of cameras like every 5 kms. . .

Go to one of those little automotive supply stores that carry all sorts of crap for your cars.

Invest in the plastic licence plate cover with little metal lines running through it. From directly behind your plate looks normal. From above it is blurred out and doesnt show up on the cameras footage...so happy speeding.

I absolutely, absolutely, absolutely refuse to drive in Korea. Only because I hate driving with a passion and don't have to drive here (with the beautiful conveniences of buses, taxis). The one thing I am fearing the most when I get back to L.A this August is gettting behind the wheel of a car. I wouldn't even drive if they just gave me an international driver's license here and a free car. Nope, siree. By not driving, I'm not in as much fear of my life as I was back home. Not driving has probably increased my life saftey as much as 50%.
Just my thoughts of course....I have a bit of a phobia with driving a car.

i got a korean driver's license. anyway, i don't care about the money. i hate the idea that they don't have to personally give you the ticket. realistically, you could get 5 or 6 tickets in a row. that would hurt!

Those cameras don't mean squat when you're riding a motorbike. It's kind of funny: all the cars will be slowing down for the camera like a herd of saints and I'll just carry on speeding like Tom Cruise-uh.

a) You know the cameras are there

b) You speed anyways

c) You complain about getting tickets???

Come on now...auto-cameras + speeding = tickets

So what if a cop is not there to hand you your ticket?

It boils down to the same: you speed, there is a chance you will have to pay a penalty.

I know its frustrating but, speeding in a camera zone is asking for it.

Also...how does this make Korea stupid?

Wow. I expected something like a Korean cop asking for some pocket money instead, or a malfunctioning speed check camera but... you are disapointing me.

The plastic coating on the plate were banned. They sell some GPS receptors instead that alarms you when a camera is in sight. Then the police is investing more and more on mobile camera devices which is mounted on patrol cars, so it is getting useless by the day.

Just follow the flow then you'll be fine. And slow down whenever you can for your own safety.
