I love Asterix!! My local library had the entire collection and I read them all when I was young. What's the name of the big fellow, the guy who fell into a pot of that "strength drink"? They were always kicking the crap out of the Romans!!

I love the Warhammer comics as well. My brother (studying art) got it every month and there was always a couple of contuining stories and new stories. All in black and white and the best character is Kal Jerico. Excellent stuff.

Asterix, Tintin, sure, they were/are great.

Of the DC/Marvel comix Swamp Thing, those Weird Tales kind of ones, Sgt. Rock, and Jonah Hex.

I loved comics but never understood the great Marvel vs. DC battle- they both sucked; They both seemed to be stuck in the same rut: 'comics = superheros, and only superheros'.

In spite of my earlier scorn of superhero comics, I vividly remember when Marvel jumped their comic prices from 25 to 35 cents- I was so pissed off!!! The prices on Captain Korea's X-Men comics brings those memories flooding back.

I also love Gary Larson's Far Side cartoons

How do you know, Sparkles? Maybe he bought Spiderman No. 3 in 1982. It's possible a few changed hands from collector to collector that year.

Yeah, I remembering as a young lad picking up my very first Action Comics no. 1 for around 60,000 dollars or so at an auction. Thanks for the cool weekly allowances, Mom!
