Just out of curiousity...

What kind of work were you doing BEFORE you started teaching english in Korea?

I've got a feeling that this thread is not gonna get many responses.

I was working as a project manager for an e-commerce company.
Maintaining an internet shopping site, client websites, database programing, etc......Oh and I cooked pizza on the side, taught Karate to make ends meet!

I came over here to continue martial arts and to write a book....just never left.

EDIT: so, what kind of work will you doing upon returning to korea? you must have great plans for yourself. best of luck kiddo. Wink

I was a corporate paralegal. I liked the money, but hated the work. I came here to try something different. I like it here, so I'm not going back.

i am a vet, but was working as general manager of the technical services division of papua new guinea's "national agricultural quarantine and inspection authority". i got a little tired of dodging bullets and corrupt politix, so, on a whim, i came here back in 2001. i reckon i'll stay a few years yet - may even try and start a vet practice here.... any investors out there?

planted trees for seven years. the northern parts of saskatchewan and alberta. and, in british columbia, north and south. in bc, planted up near alaska. spectacular, wild country. not many people make it out there. from time to time see a camper parked by a stream. logging roads. glaciers, big old trees, bears. raging, ice-cold streams with beers in them. living like a labouring gypsy;sleeping in a tent. i miss 'wind', panoramas, birdsong, fresh (oxygenated) 'tree air'. arduous 'youth'.

Managed an Italian resturant.
Never been so stressd in my life.
Walked out in the middle of my shift one day.
Jumped a flight to Vegas and blew all my money.
Lived off credit and drove around North America for three months looking for something else to do.
There was nothing else to do.
There was no more credit.
I came to Korea.

Just wanted to quote that.

I did the usual odd Uni jobs.

Bagger, Cashier, Produce, Dairy(not all at once, of course) at a grocery store
Bagger at a commissary(military don't love them poor baggers)
Salesperson(me?!?) and, later, shirt iron presser(uh, I ironed on decals to shirts) at a local tourist shop
Pizza delivery(best job in the world)
Scanner for NCS Pearson--that company that also produces the Longman Press textbooks(Side by Side, True Stories, et cetera). Probably the easiest/most reputable job I had.
