|
|
On one of my recent trips to the urinal, I noticed the man beside me spitting into the urinal just before releaving himself.
Having noticed over the years that often men do this, but why?
The funny thing is, is that I had to hold myself back from doing the same thing. I figured, why would I do this when there is no real reason to do so.
Most of the Koreans who use the urinal often hork up some *stuff* before they go, but this is not the same.
So do you spit , and why if you do? |

It is a biological response for saliva to develop before immediate URINATION. |

they just do it around foreigners so they have something to talk about on internet chat forums
question for you well-travelled bunch of people..... are there other "spitting cultures" out there beyond this fair land (and china) - i have a feeling that arabs may also be fond of a spit (?)

Don't you dare spit in my urinals! I spend all day polishing those, buffing them to a supreme shine good enough for me to shave my ajumma moustache in. Don't even think about defiling my hard work.
Spit on the floor instead like everyone else does. |

In order to spit in it I would have to cast my eyes in that general direction. If I did that I would end up gagging, so... no. |

Sure, in North America we call it "baseball". Learned it in my first T-ball practice. |

If I need to spit that's where I usually spit. I don't always feel the need to spit while taking a piss, but on the whole spitting in the urinal sure beats spitting on the floor, in the stairwell, in the elevator, in the ashtrays, on the subway, etc.
If more guys spit in the urinal/toilet instead of everywhere else the world would be a better place. |

Indians love a good gob and its evident there as many people chew beetle nut, red stains abound. Still, why does this always come up? This is Asia, after all, and things are done differently. It doesn't worry me that much, but then again I have been over this side of the world for quite a while. |
