| You do not want to work illegally here and to get caught - it will leave you with a bad record if you get deported and you will have a lot of difficulties when you want to travel to other countries. |
It is true that I would been baned from the Republic of Korea for 1 year, but who cares? Other countries? I may not travel to China ( for political personal reasons ).That was never a problem for the rest of Asia. Actually you have nothing like Europol or Interpol. It is how it is...Asian countries never act together.

I didn't read in any of your posts which said that you were head over heels in love with this Korean woman and that you want to spend the rest of your life with her?
You have to think carefully how much this woman means to you. Is she worth all the trouble you are getting yourself into..?
Also, in Korea, we all get told that you don't just marry the person, you marry the whole family.. Can you accept and deal with that?
There are many things to think about and I think you made the right decision to go and get a degree first. |
I posted another thread in a different directory, saying that the relationship with her is very serious. and I also asked what is this special Korean custom. She just told me that she can wait for me.
Ah..degrees? I will join a study project between EU and Japan. A very unique course in here. But even I will get it. It is not accepted in Korea ( not really). Korea is so fixed on US standards. I already hear stuff in the embassy saying "Ah, just a BA? What kind of lazy student you are? Only 4 years of studying..." The Korean embassy want too high qualified people and treat them just as second class citizen. I met a German professor of international affairs at Yongsei Uni. She is treated equal. The relationship with Korea is not very close to Europe.
If I stay in Japan or Taiwan, the company or school chooses who they want to hire. The government just gives the visa. With both countries Germany has a tax agreement, saying that citizen of both sides can decide to who they want to pay tax and alien residence cards can be extended inside the country. I even can become a citizen of one of these countries.
and her family? I'm half Chinese and my ex girl-friend was a Taiwanese. I had no problem with her family, but Taiwanese don't have so a national confidence and if you follow the rules you won't have any trouble. Her family lives in Kwang-Ju and she works in Seoul and is know planing to work in Japan. She is very independent anyway.
But one thing I still don't understand is that she works 14 hours a day in Apgujeong in a beauty salon. She has studied biology and is focused on skin problems and still doesn't earn enough money to effort an own appartment in Seoul. |

I really hope everything works out for you.
I think you should look at your work experience and skill sets more closely. You must target each industry you apply for.
If you've worked in the food service industry for example, you could apply to hotel chains as a trainer and interpreter. If you are serious about working in Korea(which you seem to be) look more closely into what you can do as all experience is skill transferable, don't undersell yourself. Yahoo has a resume facility that includes entries for most positions so you can use this for a multiple position template. Than, pitch/sell yourself to those industries with a German speaking representative.
And I agree, the world welcomes Koreans but Koreans do not welcome the world. It is seriously one-sided and propped up by xenophobic policies both official and official it seems. My father once told me the same thing; "only go to Korea as a tourist as they are tough employers". But I'm glad I did. It made me a better businessman.
Keep trying and don't settle for scraps. if you do, you will end up working like a dog getting robbed at every juncture of your employment.
As far as degrees are concerned, checkout degreeinfo.com, degreeboard.com for information about acquiring acceptable degrees in the shortest time, transferring credits, etc, from a US university. |

Thanks for the tip, but I'd better forget Korea.
The only why I wanted to work for 6 months or so was to spend more time with my gilr-friend. I treated her to visit me so long as I am in Germany, but he parents put her under so a strong pressure that she had to give it up.
Now she wants me to come to Korea that she introduced me to her family. But what does she expect from me? I asked her why her parents are just opposing everything? She said just because you are not a Korean.
If that's the only reason what can I do better in Korea? It is impossible for me to become a Korean. Her family never met me and already hates me. Just because I'm not a Korean. To go to Korea with all the risk to an intolerant society will not help me.
It's like going to the black panters and saying we're all humans let's be friends! If she is not willing to defend me or taking at least a little risk for me Korea is not worthy for me to go there again.
At the moment I'm working for Eagle Global Logistics. They are quite big number in the US for air and sea cargo ( transportation of containers ).EGL has 5 offices in South-Korea, but they won't help to work there, because it is too troublesome for them to get me this stupid working visa which is limited on just 3 months. Then they have to do all the paper work again. Besides all that the salary is quite low. If I take a part-time job in Germany I would earn more.
Besides all that I don't want to live in Germany. Why everyone is pushing me to a German company. They won't hire me anyway and I never would work for a German company.
I got offers to work for the Taipei Mission in Seoul or Oversea Chinese Association, but even them can't help to get me a visa.
The only thing I found was a Taekwondo school which teaches foreign kids in Taekwondo. They would pay me 80 000 Won a month ( including food and recommondation ). That would be a contract of 6 years. The school would make the big money and I would end up as their cheap slave.
I'll go back on study. Japanese + managment ...to spend half of the study time is part of it. So I'll go to Japan. I can visit her from Japan. Compared to Korea the conditions are excellent. The work and credits from university and companies there are full accepted.
If I will go to Korea I'll go there as a tourist...Korea still has many intresting things like a different view of Asia's history, its own culture and I think beautiful landscape. |
