|
|
I'm just wondering how much of a problem this has become. I still have to get some transcripts from my university. The last time I checked, they wanted $50.00 Can. per copy + shipping fees. They also told me that they would not send official transcripts to anyone except another university. I am not sure what that means for me now. I have heard that there are such things as "unofficial transcripts" which can be sent to anyone and hopefully cost a lot less.
Any other U of Sask grads out there who had to do this? Can you tell me how things turned out. PM me if you like.
I was kind of hoping this whole thing would blow over and they would just go back to the way things were, but so far it looks like this is here to stay.
Thanks in advance

I have a feeling it will blow over when the realization hits immigration what a pile of crap it is.
Sealed envelopes? The dumbest crap ever.
I would say in six months the idea will be history, and laughed at. |

Yes it is a dumb idea. Degrees, transcripts, and seals can all be forged. The only way to really verify is to call the university. |

Do you think so homer???
I already know of one recruiter that is making fake seals for universities, along with the degree and other neccesities...
You know you can go to any stamp shop and they will make them for 50 000 won....
The only way to verify if the applicant is real or fake is to ring the university..
Do you know why immigration won't do it???
-Because in most cases their english is not good enough to do so....that is why we have this silly transcripts system which while might be a little harder to forge is really not that hard at all...
I don't mean to sound harsh but it is quite easy to get around.... |

Probably the ultimate irony of the EFL teaching system they've established here. |

Nope! The only legal way for the school to receive a copy of your transcripts other than you handing to them in person, is to have your school fax it to them.Phone calls are not legally allowed I'm afraid. No law abiding school will give out info on anyone.Quite rightly so I might add. |

30 transcripts finally arrived today in separate envelopes, yippee!!!
All with 2 stamps (not seals) on the back flap.
Cost to me: 75 pounds sterling (About 150.000won).
if they insist on transcripts adressed to the next prospective employer, I'll just head for a new country.
By seals, do you guys mean wax stamps? I asked my uni- they don't do that. They stamp the envelpe over the flap in ink. There is a silver seal on the actual transcript, as well as that miniature detailed print all over the background. it is surely pretty hard to fake these.
If immigration insists on unbroken wax seals, they're out of luck. |

I was going to post a question similar to the OP.
I had to cancel my ticket to Seoul because my school still does not have this sealed transcript!
I"M wondering now...
How much easier would it be for a school to just hire someone internally from Korea even if they've already hired someone from overseas? I'm worried that if my new soon to be employer simply can't wait any longer for a teacher, he may need to find someone else who can begin teaching immediately!
Do foreign teachers already in Korea have to go through all of this too?
Getting a little worried now... no longer just annoyed by it all. |

What other Asian ESL destinations require sealed transcripts, does anybody know? I don't see them listed as requirements for japan, Taiwan, China, or Indonesia. |

Thanks for posting the link.
It seems the price has gone down a lot since the last time I checked.
Cheers |
