For anyone interested.. The SPC will be hosting their 7th annual pudding gathering on 14th October (my birthday) at the Seoul Millenium Hilton Hotel.
I'll be there!!!! They are going to make these scrumptious British puddings like Spotted Dick or Jam Roly-Poly or trifle etc. etc..
The cost is 79,000 won per person all inclusive of a 3-course dinner with wine and loads of puddings!
I don't work for them but I thought you might like to know.
Their URL is: www.seoulpuddingclub.com |

Pretty expensive to sample what sounds like mostly English
cooking. Arguably the fattiest, blandest and worst in the
world.
I'd rather buy a couple of wines at Jel and a couple of good
cigars at Hamilton for that price. |

I guess you will have to be a Brit to appreciate British food and puddings. |

Yeah, you're right. All those damned McD's, Burger King, KFC etc etc ...
Fat, bland and the worst in the world. |

Yeah, it's the sort of thing I enjoy (including English cuisine!).
My present contract here ends this month and for now I don't know where I will be. It could be Ulsan, Geoje, Seoul or, God forbid, Houston for a few months.
Now there is a culinary desert.
Edit: and the Hilton is perhaps my favourite hotel. For 3 years I had lunch there almost every day (fine English fayre) and had my own table in the Oak Room most evenings. Happy days, happy days ......
Second edit: Wangja must try and get his thoughts in order ... and it would be nice to meet a few more from here, including you of course ... |

Oh we are definitely going. It's my birthday on 14th Oct., so hubby is taking me for a treat!
We also like the Hilton. We've been their Diamond Club member for 4 years or so now. Hubby just renewed it this last week!

Yes, the Hyatt towers over Itaewon. The Hilton is between Namsan and Seoul station. |

There are several: for lunch, I used the Oak Room (English club style, great carvery) but there are also Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Califiornian and Korean. All good of their type.
In addition, they have what I reckon is the best restaurant in Seoul, Seasons. French style - and priced to match I am afraid. The gourmet dinner is around 100,000 KRW. But well worth it for special occasions or when someone else is paying! |

SJ, next time you are near Seoul Station, stand in front of it and look up towards Namsan. You can't miss it.
Wangja.. we love the Seasons. My husband, having been educated in France, reckons it's the best French food in town.
BTW... are you a Brit...? |

hehehe, yes, I'm a Brit, sort of French speaking having worked with French companies for many years. Love 'em a lot - hence the avatar - but hate their condescending attitude to cuisine other than their own. Or indeed their attitude to anyone other than them. (No, didn;t really mean that )
And yes, I am sure your husband is right. Mr Park, the executive chef there since it opened, has a skill that the other French restaurants keep trying to poach .... |

I must be blind (or not pay much attention), my apartment is less than 10 mins walk from Seoul station.
