Dont take it the wrong way Alway Curious. Most newbie questions pertain to contracts...but they dont post the worst contract many of us have ever seena and spout out the tripe you did at the beginning:
Quote:
I've been offered a contract by a school called Go English Ansan which appears to be the best of the ones I've seen so far.

A little too over the top ....how shall I say it? Innocent No...stupidity? A little rude....naive? Yes lets say naive.

Quote:
I'm particularly impressed by the fact they are offering a training period as I'm worried that with no previous experience I could totally flounder in the classroom! Also they mention they follow courses of continuous assessment and development which can only be beneficial. Their bonus scheme looks very generous too.

The first sentence made me laugh.......the second sentence had me in convulsions....I stopped laughing at the third one and thought to myself....hmm can anyone be so naive? Is it possible? If you have 50 students you would have to increase the number to 75 to qualify for the first bonus. You would have to double it for the second bonus. Now consider you have to do all that in one month the chances of getting a bonus are nil. Generous you say? I say gullible if you think so. Which again raises the question could anyone be that naive?

Now most newbies that come also post questions about shopping for clothes, food or other living items.

You posted about cake and toothpaste, again in a way that was a little too over the top naive. Gosh darn it all.

Nobody said "you were out to get them"

Its just that you are a bit too arrogant and your questions are too naive for a newbie.

It is obvious you are a sock....and a troll...well done.

If that was the case, then you totally bought it, hook, line, and sinker on the first page of this thread, when you treated him like a regular newb. Not until you were the last straggler on the sock-labeling bandwagon. I, too, would feel pretty dumb and full of contempt at the OP if I were you. Maybe that's why you started a separate thread about him and are also dragging it out on this one.

Basically this all looks like a big 'whoops, hehe..err..maybe he isn't a sock/troll.' by some of the site's resident excess-male-pride-for- all-the-wrong-reasons types, and they are having the damndest of a time eating crow, now that appears that he may not be a sock/troll, after all. It's both funny and sorry to watch like in 'dog chasing it's tail' kind of way. Rolling Eyes

Interesting theories Grottbags, but I am familiar with the workings of the internet and messageboard search functions and have found plenty of the info I was looking for. Two big things that were missing were, lo and behold, the info I wanted to know about toothpaste and cake in Korea.

What, pray tell, is wrong with thinking that training periods and constant evaluation of work performance could be beneficial to me as I learn the ropes in the classroom?

No more for you. You have benefitted from my opinion and responded with insults and derision.

IF you are indeed the newbie that you claim to be you will find out when you start working here.....IF you are(as I suspect) just a troll then you already know.

Either way any more conversation with one such as you is a waste of my time.

I just had a mental picture of the guy in Grotto's avatar fighting with the nasty trolls in the pictures. Cool. I know different guy. But, still fun to think about. Hmmm...wondering what's happening with the Tzechuk/Corporal thread.

It should be quite easy to tell.

As for Mr/Miss Always Curious, I am curious as to why you did not post the name and location of this school? Then people whose contracts are up soon and doubt your story can go check it themselves. I might even do so myself. And if your story is real, other teachers need to be warned against this school.

Put up or shut up time!

Can't you read? I just counted and if you read 31 words into the post then you'll see I mentioned the name of the school. Rolling Eyes

I could make some smartass comments about you "sparing bandwidth" for people who are going to read posts properly but I think I'll avoid stooping that low.

Are you another person who thinks everyone's out to get them too? I suppose you've shown how helpful you're going to be for people on here. At least Grotto had the courtesy and grace to start a nice lovely thread about me Laughing

I said "name AND location". There are (at least three schools, that I know of) by that particular name. Not very helpful.

If anything, this thread is in dire need of pictures of pots and kettles.
