Back home, it's not common to see two unrelated females, above early elementary age, holding hands -- unless they are gay. Here, it's just a part of culture.

I've seen a few foreign females walking around holding hands with Korean women. Not knocking it -- just curious if you ladies do it, or would if your close Korean female friend initiated it.

I saw a Russian guy once holding hands with a Korean guy. After calling them *beep*, I ran away - like a real man!

You really shouldn't make fun of gays.

I think gays have had enough fun poked at them....

Actually, I'd like to hold hands with Corporal, and that's the ONLY Korean man I'll hold hands with, so don't start PMing me again, guys.

My female students sometimes hold my hand when we walk. It's really no big deal. Rolling Eyes

I used to link arms with my best friend when we were teenagers but we never held hands.

The ONLY person that ever held my hand when we walked was my mother in law and that lasted for 30 seconds... no thanks. Not for me.

I remember holding hands with Korean women and with other foreign women when I was in Korea. It was no big deal. I always thought if a Korean female acquaintance wanted to hold my hand or lock arms it was a sign that they were comfortable around me.This behaviour, along with covering my mouth while I ate, doing a slight bow and saying hello while first walking into a store were examples of how I adapted to living in Korea.

Did you see the part about "students"? Some of us actually have ethics. Male or female, students are off limits.

Just out of curiosity, Derrek, why do you start a thread as Gollum and later post in the same thread as Derrek?

A lot of the adjuma korean teachers are a bit clingy with me. Play with my hair link arms etc. My vice principal likes to slap me on the back/stomach and has even stroked my thigh once Shocked

touching between friends has only really become outmoded in the west at the beginnning of last century for women and during the late 1800s for men. Personally I think it's us with the complex, not them.

Bingo. Although, you'll never find me holding hands or linking arms with a fellow male. Because that's just gay.
