Cambodia siege driven by revenge
Friday 17 June 2005, 18:00 Makka Time, 15:00 GMT
A Cambodian man who shot dead a Canadian toddler during a school hostage drama near Angkor Wat was driven by revenge against his South Korean ex-employer, police say.
Chea Khom quit last week as a driver for a Korean restaurant owner in Siem Reap, gateway to the famed 800-year-old temples, after being slapped in the face for taking the children to school late, senior police investigator Ou Em said on Friday.
He then decided to exact revenge by kidnapping the Korean's children from the school, hatching a plot with friends in Phnom Penh which led ultimately to Thursday's school siege and the death of a two-year-old Canadian boy, he said. |

Are those little Cambodians so stupid they can't tell a Canadian from a Korean?
Or was the kid "Korean Canadian"? |

From the article (and this must be the first time I've ever read an aljazeera article start to finish):
Kanika Cowled, a six-year-old Cambodian-Australian girl who hid in the school library, said the Canadian child was singled out and shot "because that little boy just yell". |

I missed the part about it being because of a Koreans abuse.
I saw the "owner" in an interview on tv (in korean), even with the mosaic he seemed like an arse. |

Man photographs nude girl
Associated Press
Phnom Penh, Cambodia, June 22, 2005
A South Korean man was charged with sex offenses on Wednesday for allegedly making a 10-year-old girl in Cambodia pose naked for photographs.
Kim Sung, 55, was charged with debauchery, according to court documents shown to reporters. Debauchery is a Cambodian legal term for sex offenses involving minors and carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison.
Kim was taking pictures of the naked girl in a Phnom Penh guesthouse Monday when police entered his room and arrested him, said Khieu Sophal, an anti-trafficking police officer. He said Kim paid a brothel owner US$40 (euro33) to take the girl to his room to photograph.
Police confiscated a digital camera and four memory sticks containing dozens of pictures of other nude underaged girls, Khieu Sophal said.
"Our initial conclusion is that he planned to distribute the pictures of these naked girls to other foreigners outside Cambodia," he said.
The suspect, who worked for a company that imports cars from South Korea to Cambodia, had been under police surveillance before his arrest.
Kim declined to speak to reporters on Wednesday.
His Cambodian attorney, Theng Meng Ee, dismissed the charge as inappropriate and said there was no evidence linking his client to child sex crimes.
The pictures of naked young girls were old, and his client had kept them "just to look at for fun," he said.
South Korean Embassy officials were not immediately available for comment.
Child rights advocates have said Cambodia is a magnet for foreign pedophiles due to its lax law enforcement and corruption in the courts. But police have recently stepped up action against foreigners preying on young boys and girls.
Last week, a Phnom Penh court charged a British man with debauchery for allegedly sexually molesting two young boys. On Tuesday, a Cambodian Appeals Court judge sentenced a Dutch man to 10 years in prison for sexually abusing Cambodian boys, overturning an acquittal issued earlier by a lower court. |

You're right! Canadian children dying on behalf of Korean children! According to the Marmot blog, Cambodian authorities said that the two Korean children of the restaurant owner in Cambodia had been the intended targets and surely would have been killed. Instead, it was a Canadian child that died!
"Quoting Cambodian police, it said the targeted Korean kids were studying in another building. The authorities said that had these animals seized the right building, those two children would have been killed." |

Um....um...er....I uh...um... "fun". This statement sounds foolish but it has a very concrete amount of common sense. Why do you have any porn? |
