So my wife and I are on the verge of signing a contract with SLP English school in Seosan through GIA Consulting.

If there's anything that anyone can tell us about any of these places (espeically what it's like to live in Seosan) please let us know.

The contract looks like this:

30hrs/week (2-8pm, mon-fri)
2 mil won/month
18000 won/hour overtime (I've asked for clarification on whether overtime is mandatory or optional)
accomodation provided
airfare provided
10days paid vacation (in addition to the 17 public holidays)
1 month severance at the completion of contract
50% health/dental coverage

thoughts?

I don't know how civil law works in Korea, so I'm going to ask you to get my drift...

I once accepted a contract, very similar to yours, from a recruiter whose name I can't really recall, although your message rings bells somewhere in the back of my mind.

Anyway, I found that this recruiter had deceived me about the actual conditions I'd find here, and the contract was not adhered to once I got here.

If I were you, I'd think long and hard about dealings with any recruiters similar to the one I describe. Good luck.

Consider your drift gotten. Thanks for the heads-up.

I was also informed that this school would be opening in September, 2005. For the first time ever. So there were conveniently no current teachers that I could talk to in order to find out anything.

Seosan is a really ugly city as well. I spent the night there once.. so glad to get out of there the next day.

I wrote a few large paragraphs about it somewhere.. just do a search for "Seosan".
