I wonder if anyone has some good internet radio to recommend. I've been listening to Egg Radio for a few months, and it's damn good. It's nice that it's not chock-a-block commercials, traffic, weather, and sports like at home. In the four months I've been listening, I think I've heard one commercial and none of the other stuff.
Anyways, check out eggradio, and lay our your recommendations here. |

I usually listen to Indie Pop Rocks and Groove Salad on I-Tunes radio.. I think they are also on Windows Media Player Radio.
Indie Pop rock plays, you guessed it, indie rock bands. It's a great source for brand new alt/indie rock bands.
Groove salad is just very chilled out electronica and ambient stuff... great for weekend morning hangovers. |

I worked for a time in a small French community in northern Alberta, reporting for the English-language regional newspaper, and loved to listen to the only radio station my car radio could pick up: Rock Detente, a nationwide affiliate network of stations providing Top40 French and contemporary English pop songs. I don't speak the language but understand a bit and enjoy French ballads very much.

Just click on Montreal to listen.
It's often the last thing I listen to before bed, just like it was back then. |

Iceberg Radio has more stations (music genres) to choose from than you'll ever need. |

This is a radio show on a public radio station in Los Angeles. Nic Harcourt is the host, and the music is kind of "the musical equivalent of art-house films" according to the New York Times Magazine. Anyway, you can listen to the show anytime, and there is a lot to like, and a bit of too smooth L.A. stuff. He played damien Rice, Sigur Ros and Jem before they were signed. I think he had a lot to do with introducing Brazilian Girls, too.

Winamp's Internet Radio isn't too bad. A good variety from lots of different countries anyway. Plus, they have Internet TV with lots of Simpson's, if you're into that kind of thing. Get the full free version from here:

xM satellite radio has an online subscription version. Has a three day free trial Haven't tried it, but the regular xM satellite is great. Worth $12 a month, easy. |

$12 a month for how much more than one can get for free?

But you have to sign up, get a password, etc.
Avoid the hassle and go to the M.I.T. developed links to stations, free and easy at: http://www.radio-locator.com/ |

Yeah, Winamp's internet radio is how I found www.eggradio.com. There are some good stations there, all right, mixed in with a lot of crap that I don't care to hear.
As I said in my OP, Egg radio is nice 'cuz I can do without hearing the local traffic and news reports. Virtually commercial free, too. I think it's because of that that I much prefer it to a regional station streamed over the internet. |

Thats the best I've found, but you can go the NPR.com and cruise the various stations listed.
I really like that KCRW has playlists- I've found a lot of stuff I like for downloading, but some of it is not widely available, so I may have to keep a list and actually buy some CD's when I'm in the States next. |
