In danger of dying from boredom, that is.
Just how do you crazy waegukin deal with this blasted FIVE DAY WEEK?
So far, I am utterly at a loss as to how to occupy my time. My husband is off at the yeogwan with his secretary, "preparing important business documentation"; my regulars are no longer in the office in order to "slip out for a quick one"; I can't possibly spend time with my kids BECAUSE IT'S JUST NOT DONE; the prestigious location means that there is no passing trade; and, worst of all I can't read so I never know when the next episode of Qu33r Eye is on. Even soju is starting to lose its appeal.
It was bad enough having to spend Sundays drinking bleach and flicking the bean to that Manhunt show whilst brushing my teeth with the toilet brush. Now I am simply lost. LOST, I tell you!
Can someone recommend a hogwan for independent thinking? Millions of unimaginative civilians will die if you don't help quickly. |

You should find a fun and diverting pastime and devote all your time and energy into it striving to become the very best one there is. If you pour every moment of your freetime into research and training and manage to ignore the distracting demands and temptations of "normal" life I am sure you will find happiness at the other end of the rainbow.
And if not, well hey! At least you'll be poised right at the very tip-top of the skyscraper of success, ready for the next great adventure. |

You need some exercise, HA. Take up some sport, like hiking. Don't forget to buy all the expensive, trendy, completely unnecessary fashion and hiking accessories, so that you can show off your new lifestyle as well as be prepared if you lose your way and have to fight off mountain lions while walking on the park path.
Failing that, there's always an English hagwan. I hear some of those waegook guys are cute and discreet.

Thanks for the tip. I have just returned from a six hour visit to my local camp store, Mulletts.
What a disappointment! Apart from this one young fella who was, at best, mildly effeminate, there was absolutely nothing whatsover "camp" about the store. And believe me, I know camp when I see it. First it was fed-ex'ing E-Mart with no E, now a Camp shop with no homos. What a bunch of lying dog babies.
Crampons? Pitching a tent? Telescopic poles? Bell-ended tents? All so misleading, goshdarnit. I left in quite a temper, I can tell you, and I shall never return.
I promptly went and bought half a million Won's worth of "The North Face" (should have been called The Two Face) gear that I promptly packed away at the back of my wardrobe. Now I'm ready, Seoraksan! |

You should knock out a couple of more babies soon so you can start complaining incessantly to anyone and everyone about them. Failing that, become a Korean English teacher. Don't speak English? No problem. Hate foreigners? That's a bonus. Despise children? Hell, that's practically a given. Be sure to put a lot of paper on your desk to look preoccupied while talking on the phone and buying shoes online. Knowing your proclivities, HA, I recommend that you also try becoming a hakwon cleaning lady. That will help you gain a foothold in the "industry" and FWIW there is no difference between most hakwon ajummas and korean english teachers in terms of English ability. |
