Just got home from work and turned on CNN. Does anyone think this was a terrorist attack? They're still saying it was an "internal" problem (mechanical or electrical) but it was three different locations. It's now 6:40 pm so hopefully they tell us more soon.

Does anyone think it has anything to do with London being awarded the 2012 Olympics yesterday? They haven't made the link yet, well they haven't said it yet. Or maybe the G8 Summit. They've already brought up that link.

It'll be interesting to see what comes of it.

First reports said a power surge but the BBC is reporting at least 6 explosions at different stations (Aldgate, Kings Cross, Edgeware Street, Russell Square, Old Street) as well as at least one explosion on a double decker bus. So the 'internal problem' is becoming less likely an explanation.

CNN still reporting that the bus explosion is unconfirmed.

It's been confirmed. Several tube blasts and at least 3 bus bombs. Looks like a major terrorist attack on London.

I'm going to anoint this the offical thread. Please post on here and don't start another thread.

Apparently 2 casualties. amazingly low figure for a series of 7 blasts- good news, could've been a lot worse.

It seems so. There are reports of much higher fatality numbers (nothing higher than 2 'confirmed') and rescue operations are still underway. Apparently there are still people trapped underground. It's early to be putting numbers on it.

There's been a statement claiming responsibility from a group 'linked to Al Qaeda" as well.
