London pipped Paris by four votes to get the 2012 Olympic Games. As someone who studied at Uni in London I think it's great news. Plus it's always good to stick two fingers up to those pesky French every now and then too! Even more so after President Chirac's comments about British food. Actually I agree with him, but still, he didn't have to say it out loud. Hasn't he heard of diplomacy?? He must have taken the same course in diplomacy as Dick Cheney.
What do you guys think of the vote? I guess London and Paris were always going to be the favourites. |

When Olympics 2012 comes all the French althetes should be served nothing but greasy fish 'n' chips with mushy peas. That'll sicken 'em!! |

I do believe in Gleneagles he will be served that Scottish delicacy - deep fried battered Mars bar. |

the next 7 years, and at least 10 after the games, are going to extremely exciting for British sport and for London, particularly the East end.
and with West Ham in the premiership again, its all turned out laverly! |

I wonder why the hosting the olympics is seen as such an incredibly huge event?
It seems like a great excuse to spend perverse amounts of money on infrastructrue that will only have heavy usage for the a few months.
There were a lot of people in vanc. who were seriously miffed about getting the winter games.
Are there any londoners who aren't really keen on the idea? |

It's excellent news. The east end of London really needs some gentrification, and is very densely populated, so there's no way the improvements are going to be a mere flash-in-the-pan.
I've already applied for the prestigious position of Cheif Public Convenience Sanitation Specialist. Just imagine that one on my CV, and the glory of being the person to bring hwajangsils to the western world. Big time, here I come! |
