I dont think John Bolton is such a bad choice to be UN ambassador however I think there is a better choice Newsweek editor Farid Zakaria.
While he has been plenty critical of Bush , he supports many of Bushs policies in principle. He even supported the war to remove Saddam. He also has been as critical of old Europe as Bush has been.
He knows his stuff well. He also happens to be a muslim and that might help the US get its message out to muslim nations. |

I forget who said it, but they're right: Appointing Bolton to be US ambassador is like putting a fish in charge of a bicycle it hates and wants to destroy.
Why would you take man who despises international law and disputes its very legitimacy, and put him in a job which is essentially all about international law? In an organization which he maintains should not exist? |

I think its sad there's so much controversey concerning Bolton. He should be rejected quite handily. |

We're now in the Congressional summer recess, the time that Bush can make the temporary appointment if he is going to do it.
I'm wondering what Bush plans to do, what with a Supreme Court nomination/confirmation to get through the Senate by 'the first Monday in October'.
Maybe, MAYBE, he'll drop Bolton so he can focus on the Supremes. We can hope, anyway. |
