i am pending employment in Busan, sent the contract off today and i am supposed to start at the end of this month... kinda last minute notice... anyway i did a run from a job last year... i have heard that once that happens you can no longer get a visa from that province, i think that the school i ran from was within the Changwon area, but some claimed it was a suburb of Busan... unfortunately i don't know where the visa is coming from, the main office is in Seoul but i will be working in Busan... is there anyway i can tell where the visa was issued from by the numerals on it, all it reads as is "Republic of Korea"...

i have been reluctant to share this knowledge with my future employer for fear that he may decide not to hire me... although as stipulated in my contract i am responsible for my own airfare and only eligible for reimbursement after completion of the contract... so there is little risk involved in my employment

i have yet to arrange my ticket as this visa issuance may be a complication... i have also gotten some concern from the travel agencies i have spoken to regarding visa issuance on a one-way ticket, they claim that a round-trip is necessary for the visa but are not completely certain...

any advice on cheap tickets? i do have a valid international student ID card...

the employer has said that i may have to visit a Korean consulate in the US after i get my blue sheet, is there anyway to avoid this? with the job i ran from last year it wasn't necessary... normally it wouldn't be a concern but cash is low and if i have to provide my own air fare and they reccomend a minimum of $1000 start up funds... well let's just say that i can cover that now, but a trip to a consulate on top of all that would be hard to swing...

If today's date is after the expiration date of your last visa then you have nothing to worry about. Province does not matter.

What kind of visa did you have? It sounds as if you were teaching on a C-3, or something else other than an E-2. If you had a valid employment visa, you had to take the blue paper to a Korean consulate in SOME country...heck, I had to visit a Korean consualte to get a C-3.

It depends where your paperwork was processed...if it was at the Busan office last time then you might be in trouble...if it was at the Gyeongnam (Masan) office you should be OK...

If i remember rightly you came from Jangyu and the hagwons/schools there seem to send their stuff to Busan so you could be in trouble....however you might have nothing to worry about, just wait and see...
