The school is dealing with him, it's not my job to go in and offer pastoral care which may run counter to what the school has put in place.

So then what was your point in starting this thread?

You posted a story about a poor little mistreated kid at your school, and then when others chimed in with expressions of sympathy and a little advice, you became somewhat....hostile.

I can understand all sides of this. I have the same problems in my school and sometimes it just kills me!

I spent ALOT of money doing stuff for kids and it about broke me. So I had to back off. I do what I can but there is only so much you can do. I try hard to give help discreetly and it isn't easy.

But to be honest it can suck the life force out of you if you start noticing every child in a tough situation. The black eyes...the hand prints that are visable across the face. The students that are bullied and are wangta...The clothes that are so small they are about to burst out of them. I do what I can...give out treats when I can. Any dokk I get I usually give to my students.

But if I let it consume me I will be like Vincent Van Gogh was in his early years...living in a shack..wearing a diaper made of rags and starving because I gave all my money and clothes to those who are needier than I.

Do what you can and if you believe in god pray for the rest.

Jade

Isn't pastoral care something farmers do?
