Can this be done at the British embassy or do I have to do it by post (how long does that take?)

Do it at the Embassy. Bring the C-1 form from this page:

http://www.britishembassy.gov.uk/servlet/Front?pagename=OpenMarket/Xcelerate/ShowPage&c=Page&cid=1094236875377

plus a couple of photos. I think you have to go between 10-12 to hand in an application, ring before to check it out.

Those photos and your application have to be notarised so make sure you know a significant other like a doctor or somesuch...

It takes about four or five working days and be warned, you MUST get your visa/reentry permit etc transferred to the new passport. Once UK passports are invalid, everything in them is too.

130,000 won??

Not that much, I don't think. Last time I did it was a bit less than 90,000 won.
