Can anyone have an ad that screams out "BUST ME!" any more than this?

Unless, of course, you are immigration trying to trap teachers.

Found the ad on worknplay.

"Leavin Korea soon...will sell all my privates (about 950K/week) for price of 1 week's pay. Lookin for Canadians or Americans over 28 with experience. All are within 30 minutes of Jamshil station.
The apartment is near Jamshil. Close to good teaching areas. 10 million deposit (so you'll get it back) 400 000/month. 2 good sized rooms and big bathroom. Fully furnished.
Furniture...fridge (normal size), stove (with broiler), small counter, coffee maker, dishes, cookware, loveseat, big TV, VCR, small table (kind u sit on floor), double bed (new), dresser, closet, fan, heater, humidifier, laundry machine...paid over a million...seel for 600K
Don't call, it's not my number. Email XXXXXXXXXXXXX.com if you have the money for them."

Not only do I think it's screaming to get busted, but I also think it's pretty frigging cheeky.

sounds as if it isn't a teacher, rather someone that is solely doing privates. Confused

I "bought" your privates, they didn't like me and fired me. Can I have my money back? Please?

Yes, that's exactly why only an idiot would buy someone's privates. You're not selling a car, man, it's the most intangible of things.

Some people really don't think things through. This person is asking 10 million won so that he can get out of his apartment lease. Then he is asking for a million one so that this person will get the privilege to audition for the man's privates. That's all that it really amounts to since no contract exists while teaching privates. A private can be dropped at anytime. Then the person wants another 600k for all the furniture in the apartment.

In total that works out to be about 12 million won for a place in Jamsil with no real guarantee of anything. I wonder if the person will find a sucker to take the apt of his hands.

I believe this sort of thing happens all the time. When I take
my vacations my students' mothers all ask me for a temporary.
They don't care who. The same can be said for leaving for good.
The mothers always ask for another whitey. So I think the 4 mil/mo.
is a sweet deal to walk into. Especially since the classes are all
there waiting for someone. The apartment is a different matter.
There are a thousand papers to be signed to safely rent a place
in Korea. If all that is legit, then look the place over and make
a decision. 10mil. in Jamshil will get you a shoebox!!!

Lastly, I don't prey on my own kind. I wouldn't sell my privates.
I would give them away to someone I thought was going to offer
the kind of quality teaching that 40-50K/hr. demands. I ONLY teach
privates and I do a good job. I know that generally people have a
negative opinion of private teachers on this board, but then I think
those opinions are carried by ESL neophytes. Moving up to private
teacher is like a promotion. Something to be earned.

As far back as 96 I heard of this. I met a few people that actually rotated out of their classes with their friends/relatives every few months. The brother/sister/friend would fly in from Canada, take over the privates for a few months, then the next replacement would come in. They were making bank too. They had a pad in Korea and a pad back in Vancouver. They took their breaks either at home or in Malaysia/Thailand. To me it looked like they had beaten the system. Not straying off the subject, while all this was going on, I heard people commenting on buying privates pretty regularly at parties and gatherings. It happened all the time.

There are some damn money grubbin' people in this country. And there are some nasty people. What makes money grubber think some nasty person isn't going to see that and forward the ad to immigration. He's not out of Korea yet... he might find his stay delayed by a trip to jail.
